If the IPL is no real guide how can you assess JFM as one of the best T20 players in the World? He's done absolutely nothing in T20 cricket outside of the IPL. Average of 18 at a strike rate of 124 in the BBL.
You can only play against who you are up against and the conditions there of. Fraser - McGurk has clearly shown his skill in the best competition in the world irrespective of the favourable pitches in India for batsmen. The BBL is mickey mouse stuff in comparison. He should've been selected ahead of Warner, Wade etc

Who you backing to progress in front of them? Namibia, Scotland or Oman?
Scotland and Namibia on a good day, could beat Australia. Namibia have David Wiese, Scotland are a good all-round team- they beat the West Indies in 2022 in Hobart. Scotland had 4 players play in this seasons ILT20, so like I said, they are handy cricketers. And T20 at an international level, if you dont play as a collective group on your day- generally feel any of the top 15 ranked countries can beat each other on their day. (Scotland are ranked 13th in T20Is)

Looking forward to seeing you back them at odds then given your penchant for a punt.

I would have taken a punt on JFM but I can also understand why the selectors are reluctant to read a great deal into a tournament that has morphed into the Indian equivalent of the Home Run Derby.
the only spot he could of taken was warners IMO as an opener

and the selectors went for Warner .......

And with Steve Smith not being selected, he should come out and say he retire from the T20 format and put all his focus on ODI/Test cricket to prolong his career. I cant see him turning around in 4 years time to be a member of the T20 format from a national perspective.
Yup 100%

Matt Short, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Behrendorff can all count themselves unlucky not to get in that squad of 15.

Swepson, Chris Green think had better seasons as spinners in the BBL than Ashton Agar. One of those two could of snuck into that squad for me ahead of him.

Can see the positives and negatives for not picking JMF, but was worth a shot IMO, just giving him a license from ball one.

Short and Behrendorff both unlucky as well.

Green lucky as not sure where is best spot is in the T20 side

Behrendorff broke his leg.
Bartlett and Johnson were stiff but the selectors were never going to drop the NSW pace brigade.

Agar won't play unless Zampa or Maxwell get hurt. I guess they forgot he cant bat anymore.

The interesting one is FIGJAM stoinis over Fraser-Mcgurk. Stoin has a century but JFM has the better average in the IPL. I would've gone youth over Stoin's record of failing in icc tournaments.

Ashton Agars batting has fallen off a cliff. I rate Chris Greens batting a bit more at this level.

And this is a bit one from left field, what about that Indian born Hobart Hurriance, Chaudhary ? Can whack it as an all-rounder. Is he eligible to play for Australia?

not there to bat Agar....still a gun in the field ..and his bowling is fine in t20

overall happy with the squad....biggest concern I have is the age/form of both Warner and maxi

I would've been happy if they dropped Warner for Fraser...but I can understand why they went with Warner...if that makes sense

He wont play as an all-rounder over there. Will probably only play if Zampa breaks down. National team didnt play him as a backup spinner in India in Tests, so I dont see any reason why him and Zampa could play together at the World Cup.

Nope need a specialist spinner in the windies and Agar provides that ...and you will find with mitch as captain probably want bowl as much and stoinis and mitch all have injury concerns with there bowling loads
Happy enough with the Agar selection if they want 2 spinners, but Green should've been a reserve, if Stoinis or Marsh's injury concerns eventuate then Green comes into the squad

Because he's not a test quality spinner and Murphy and Kuhnemann were ahead of him?

Agar still no.2 spinner in T20s

I just see him as a player that will hang around squads but not get actual game time. If Chris Green does get in this squad as you say(for Marsh or Stoinis), I even sense he will play ahead of Agar for any of the matches.

pitches.....low slow spinners....might need to play 2 spinners...thats why he is the squad

This may sound a bit stupid to say but Agars batting has gotten so bad, even Adam Zampa bats better than him these days.

Starc, Cummin, Ellis can both the handle the willow better than Agar for me.

It's not stupid at all...Agar's probably a No.10 now with how bad his decline has been.
