ok this may sound really stupid, but ive been contemplating it for a while, and wanna know what others think about it.
When we know weather is going to be raining blah blah interstate or at MCG, why dont we try to drench windy hill somehow for practice. I know windy hill has flashes of the elements, but still do you think for 3/4 trainings leading up for the game they should have a type of water/rain generator, so the players can get use to it ?

If you've got a spare water/rain generator lying around, i bet there are a few farmers who would like to get their hands on it!

nice idea, but the water restrictions do make it a bit difficult!!

for interest's sake, as part of their training the boys sometimes use footballs which have been soaked in water to make them heavy/slippery to try and mimic some of those conditions... and they do still train when it's wet/windy (sometimes to the point where they take revenge on Sheeds for keeping them out there for too long!! :p )

our problem isnt so much our skill level when its wet, but our mentality and game plan in the wet/wind.

We try to play the same way without regard for the elements. Our overuse of the ball against port was embarassing. It was like they were drilled to look for the handpass at first opportunity.

we also try to pin point passes in **** conditions. in the wet, kick to where we have numbers. I distinctly remember on a few occasions against port we switched from the full back line to a 1 on 2, out numbered sitution. Turn over every time - Absurd! Kick to numbers, there are more contests in the wet than dry.

IMO its more of a mental, than physical thing.
