Interstate Members

Interesting debate - as another Sydney based supporter I agree with many of the comments from both sides. The club is nothing without the supporters and my life would be soo much poorer without the club. I consider myself an extremelly passionate supporter but with three sons under 4 (including a Judd, a Levi and a Kruze !) i cannot justify the expense of buying a membership at this point in my life - especially when that membership doesn't even include admission to the only game (in 2 years) the Blues play in Sydney. Does that make me a lesser supporter than someone with the finances to comfortably purchase a Captains Club membership?

Can the club do more in the membership department? Of course they can, and any successful organisation should always be striving to improve its performance and service to its customers. The fact our membership numbers have failed to significantly grow with improved performances and finals appearances over recent years suggest there is much work to be done - time to listen to the supporter base!

So, one kid already has no hair and they all are built like a complete brick shit house?

Holy **** what do you feed them?
Cement and testosterone... :D

But honestly... I buy a 3 game membership even though I am based in the UK. I have been to a grand total of 1 match in the few years that I have brought memberships.

My first membership was a BlueCrew membership for international supporters who wanted to help the club out. That had disappeared by the time I got around to buying my next membership and so I went for a cheap option in the 3 game membership. Cost me $85 the first time around, then this year they have introduced the At Home membership... which is the same price as the 3 game membership and gives you a BBQ apron and a Carlton flag (instead of the cap I think) which is pretty pointless to me over here in the UK... but the cap and the scarf are useful to me so I stuck with my 3 game option.

Just as a side note... with the type of weather over here in winter, a beanie would be a much better headwear item than a cap...

Do I have to re-quote you Dram? ;)
well... they send out the membership packs to overseas members at the same time as they send them out to folks back home. And considering that its winter over here when the packs arrive... a beanie would be quite handy.

And a cap... for when the football season is on :D

Do you want a rug and foot warmer to go with all that as well.

Or how about an electric blanket in Club colours !!!

:p

I can fully understand financial reasons for not buying a membership, but I don't get not buying a membership because the membership pack doesn't contain enough bells & whistles. I would never down anyone who does not believe they are in a financial position to purchase a membership.

I buy the membership... I dont particularly care what comes in it... I just have some stuff that I wouldnt mind getting in the membership pack :D

If you like, I will put in a suggestion to the club that they include Carlton branded hot-water bottles in those membership packs going to the UK/Europe.

This wouldn't work.

Example: you bring a lady friend home with you, take her to your room she gets a look at the duvet cover.

"nek minnit"

Out the door.
Only if she is a collingwood or essendon supporter... mind you... she wouldnt be getting in the door if she supported either of those clubs... no matter what she looks like.

A girl who supported any other club would want to be associated with something successful.

Have you been in such a situation? Always easier to boot them the next morning. :p
I dont usually qualify their support of a navy blue football club... but considering that I am in the UK, there is a massive dearth of filth and essenscum supporters of the female type over here...

Although I definitely wouldnt get to close to a female Newcastle supporter... a bit too much like a filth supporter really. Never know what you will get

I've been an interstate memember for near 10 years I think, and it's definitely not for the "benefits" Sure the apron was cute, but the hat never fits and it doesn't even get you into the 1 or 2 games that are here (it allows you to reserve tickets to buy, near other Carlton members)

For me, it's about feeling like I'm actually a part of the club and tbh, i don't even notice the $12 a month or whatever it is thats direct debited from my account

That aside, the no on line discount thing has me shirty. Lets face it, since Nike took over, our gear has sky rocketted in pricing. Used to get a new guernsey every year, but it's just not feasable now. Shame

Yep, renewing again, though I have been considering the 3 game membership with the minimal chance I may be in melbourne during the season as better value than the interstate membership. Glad this thread was started to see both sides of the coin

Good for you BSB I will continue to sign my son up as that is all I can afford.
Thanks to all replies on this thread I think it may be beneficial to the club.Go baggers:thumbsu:

Sounds like you might need to start supporting these guys:

WTF? If it's a joke, I don't get it... If it's not, then I want some of what you're on...

... As if I would.

I dont know if this is the best place to ask but I opted for the H+A reserved seating full membership on level 3. As i didnt care where i was placed seating wise, I was told that they will assign my seating for me. I received my membership pack the week before xmas but never received the membership card. Should I expect to get that soon or should I have already received that when the membership pack came?

BBJ, I received my pack before Xmas as well. There was a letter included that said my membership card would follow latter (easy to miss in the packaging). The club sent an email last week telling me my card had been sent and that I should receive it within two weeks
