Two young swing-men taken by the SA clubs in the same draft. Both highly-rated and versatile players (Davis can play forward and back, Trengove can play forward, back and ruck). Obviously it's too early to call who will definitely be the better player, but now that they've both played a few games, who do you think will be the better player?

Reserved my judgement on Davis until he played a few AFL games even though he was talked up by fellow supporters and playing well in the SANFL last year. Still needs to put on size but his skills and footy smarts are VERY good. Type of guy who you want to have the ball in his hands.

Saw Trengove in a couple of games. Chose Davis over him because he seems to have more class. He is playing an easier position however.

you obviously havent watched Trengove play

Ignore him, he's a mindless anti-Port troll. Probably thinks Davis is better than Tredrea at his peak.

While Trengove gets run into the ground cameoing in ruck and pinch-hitting at CHF, Davis will get the armchair ride of a young KPD, playing one of the easiest roles on the ground in third tall a la Andy Otten last year.

At this rate at least Davis will still have a functional body at 26-27.

I'd take Davis, looks classy :thumbsu: Trengove does have a very attractive name though :p

Davis should be the better player but Trengrove was a great selection.

Trengrove is holding up very well for someone so young to be required to play in the roles that he is fulfilling. Great effort by the kid.

I picked Trengrove based on that fact (for now) but would expect my answer to change 12-24 months from now.

Stay on topic everyone, don't turn this to a Bay 13 poll.

I love Philthy and he's one of out best (if not the) disposals of the ball and decision makers. Can't wait until he bulks up and gets a crack as a CHF as well.

Trengove was a very good pick where Port were able to get him. They'd be happy as well.

Big fan of Action Jackson.

I like Davis, and classier, but theres something about the way Jackson forces himself onto the ball that suggests he will be the slightly better player.

Wouldn't worry, both look good atm.

Ah, play better quality football?

If they swapped guernseys you'd be batting just as hard for Jackson - that's the problem when you make an irrational claim about a player's supposed lack of ability based purely on who they play for before they've got so much as a season under their belt.

Your opinions can be reduced to partisan bias.

Highly unlikely. I don't rate Trengove at the moment. Will he prove me wrong? That remains to be seen but I've yet to see anything in his game that has justified Port Power taking him with their second pick. Maybe he's just a slow learner? Who knows but the question was asked to the people of Bigfooty - Is Jackson Trengove the worst player in the AFL? I've already said he isn't - not as long as J. Westhoff & S. O'Bree are still on an AFL list - but he has some serious flaws in his game that he needs to work on. Serious flaws. He's already got two unenviable faults in his game - lack of speed and lack of awareness - and it's unlikely either will improve throughout his career. Thankfully his disposal can be worked on!

I wouldn't say that, just calling it how I see it. I've acknolwedged plenty of Port Power players over the years. :thumbsu:

Maybe he's just a slow learner?

Maybe he was a top-5 draft prospect who tore his hamstring off the bone and in the resultant reconstructive surgery suffered nerve damage that saw him unable to lift his foot and wiggle his toes for a very long time.

It was touch and go whether he'd play again, but he gradually got feeling back and after spending over a year on the sidelines he played half a year of footy for PAMFC 2nds/1sts in the backend of 2009 and is now staking a claim at AFL seniors in the front end of 2010.

Apart from the usual spiel of "blah blah blah, youngsters need time, give him a chance", given the severity of his injury and the development year he missed it's a miracle he's gotten back so quickly, if at all.

Cut him some slack.
