Traded Jake Carlisle [traded w/ #23 and #44 for #5, #24 and Craig Bird]

I thought St. Kilda going after Jake Carlisle was a mistake.

Carlisle is massively overrated. He is not worth a top ten pick. Here are five reasons why:-

1) He has displayed bad body language and a bad attitude in the past, which makes me question if he can be any type of leader for the club.

2) He dictates which position he wants to play, and throws a tanty when he doesn't get his way. If the coach wants you to play up forward, you do what you are told. You don't sook and moan. This shows that he puts himself before the team.

3)He verbally bashed the club on-field. It is reported that opposition players heard him saying that the club is f...d, and that he can't wait to leave, which disgusted the players that heard it.

4) He has a possible two-year ban hanging over his head, just like a lot of his teammates, if the Bombers lose the WADA case in November.

5) This current situation. On top of that, how come he didn't give St. Kilda a heads-up that he uploaded a video of himself doing lines? Was he afraid they would have pulled out on the deal?

In some ways, I would have liked to have seen him go to Hawthorn. So, that when this blows up, it makes Hawthorn look foolish, coupled with the rape allegations and Luke Hodge's drink driving, and Hawthorn would be the team the media would be hanging it on, and hopefully the wheels would come off.
Don't be silly, if this was Hawthorn it would barely make the news.. But because he's now a 'Saints player', they are constructing the cross as we speak..

I agree with some of your points.
He is a very immature 24yo in the AFL system.
Now, he's possibly the 2nd highest paid player at his new club (maybe highest).

He needs to pull his head in pronto.
Have to strenuously disagree with you that he isn't worth a Top 10 Pick though.

In terms of value, how many of those 30 are better than Jake Carlisle ?

I'll give you a good example.
Steele Sidebottom.
A very good player.Consistent.Finishes high in Collingwoods B&F every year.

Now, if the Top 4 sides got to choose between Sidebottom and Carlisle on their list for next season, guess how many would choose Sidebottom ?................ZERO

His worth is closer to 5 than 10 !

Having a look at most of those players, at least they play the positions they are told to play, don't sulk or sook, and aren't part of a drug injecting regime.

No, I would rather have a few of those guys sooner than sook Carlisle.

Greene, prestia, Lynch, zieball, sidebottom, danger, Armitage, Egan (before injury)

I would comfortably take before Carlisle to be honest.

Probably Mcevoy to...

So illegal activity is fine as long as it's the off season? Great - those Hawks players can rest easy now.

Not all illegal activities are equivalent.

The major difference between drug offences and sexual assault is that one only potentially harms oneself and the other most definitely harms someone else.

To lump them both in under the heading illegal activity is ridiculous. They're not on the same level and the law recognises this.

Pelchen said this morning trades are final when both teams sign and lodge with AFL. This has already been done.

After Thomas and Keefe experience you would think footballers would be more careful what they ingest/snort. Obviously not. Hopefully for Jake and Saints sake the stuff wasn't laced with PEDs.

Coke is only laced with PED's when a club's / players PR machine kicks into overdrive and blames "bad" coke.

Ok so we should have a list of what illegal activity is ok and which illegal activity we should frown upon?

Sucked in Saints. Two proven drug cheats on your list :p

I know this post is light hearted, and you're certainly one of the fairest and best bombers posters going around, so please take this response in the same vein, but Jesus that statement coming from a bombers supporter has so many layers of hypocracy it's basically a hypocracy onion.

Firstly Carlisle (assuming the substance is illegal which is a fair assumption) didn't cheat, he took recreational drugs.

Secondly unless it is back to the future day (ok dam that one might be true) he was a bomber when this happened.

Thirdly, if we assume the level of proof for Carlisle is enough to call him a drug cheat, then dude you have at least 20 of them on your list (they took something, but we can't prove what it is).

Carlisle is a dead set plank for filming and sharing that, and hopefully it's the kind of wake up call that dramatically changes his attitude.

If not it's a bust for us, but it's way to early to tell.

Hopefully whoever you guys get at pick 5 is smarter about their potential recreational drug use in the future.

I agree , the dickhead factor is a bigger concern.

This is gold, Essendon screwed Saints over twice now.
The best bit is that EFC originally had a rookie pick which they used on Lovett. We traded Lovett for the pick that we turned into Carlisle just before Lovett decided to muck up. Then we traded Carlisle for pick #5 just before Carlisle decided to muck up. So Dodoro has managed to turn a rookie pick into pick #5 while also fleecing St Kilda twice.
