The constant sooking from crows fans about Lever is hilarious. I’m sure they thought it was fine when Betts/Gibbs/Jacobs wanted to come to SA.
They have lost Gunston, Dangerfield and now Lever solely to the go home factor, with Gunston and Lever only playing two seasons each. Carlton could have kept Betts had they paid him his worth. The fact you had to use Jacobs as an example shows they are more than behind the ledger when it comes to the 'go home factor'.

Is this for real? In a truly national competition, are we accepting this as a legitimate reason for walking out on a club willing to pay him $500k+ per season after only two years? To me this highlights the need for either a longer rookie contract or compensation for first round picks recruited from interstate. How ridiculous. At least Blighty knows it is nonsense.
You mean compensation for example where they get an extra first round draft pick in the draft just gone and the next draft instead of the team Lever went to in Melbourne having a first round pick in those drafts?

If only something like that could happen?

Very disappointed in the lad after he point blank told us that he wanted to stay (at a function up here). I don't get why players aren't just honest about it. Tell us the opportunity is too good to pass up, don't crap on about wanting to be closer to family! It's a bloody hour and a half flight away FFS! After claiming wanting to be a one club player when he was drafted by us, and that he wanted to repay our faith in him... to then turn around and do that as soon as his contract is up for renewal... he can go and get ******.

LOL

You had people demanding he be dropped should he admit he wanted to leave.

Like I said earlier, the trade itself was fair enough, although you've excluded the second and third round picks Melbourne got back in that trade, silly mistake.

I was referring to a system similar to the retention allowance which raised the ire of Eddie McGuire back in the day. It could conceivably be available to all clubs as well, based on a certain percentage of interstate players on each teams list.

Used to see him down Glenelg a bit and he always looked like a knob. Hood up, pre emptively avoiding any possible fan interaction with the strut of someone who massively overrated their importance to the world.

And Jake said he wanted to be a 1 club player.... obviously both guys are full of shit, the only difference here is that Lever is going to your club so it’s fine.

How many players when they are first drafted have actually said that they want to be 1 club players.

I can't think of one that hasn't.

I doubt he even wanted to talk to random fans at all, let alone explain why he didn't want to play for the club you support, at a function of that club.

lol.

Gotta say, really excited for the R19 clash between the Dees and Crows. Should be a cracker. Melbourne should be looking to consolidate a top 8 spot by then and the Crows are gonna be seething. Footyball will be the winner.
