He was a guest speaker. Even have it on video. Like I said... rather they be honest.

Even so, he's not gonna tell an entire fan base he's quitting their team.

He may not have intended to at that point, shock horror, he may have changed his mind after that point in time [emoji50]

That bastard Tippett said the same too. Didnt Gunston as well ?
i'm sympathetic though... i know and understand the hurt u must feel deep inside. Santa once told me i was getting a bike but the prick gave me a tent instead.

underrated post......

That campaigner!

Literally no defender in the league is on that money. It’s not pleasant losing young talent but you don’t have to make up your own facts to push an agenda. Consensus is about 750k and if you don’t have any proof it means at this stage, you’re just peddling misinformation.

I eagerly await your reply with some story you heard from a bloke at the pub who knows his dads best mates cousin though. Nice alternative facts.
So consensus = fact?

Very disappointed in the lad after he point blank told us that he wanted to stay (at a function up here). I don't get why players aren't just honest about it. Tell us the opportunity is too good to pass up, don't crap on about wanting to be closer to family! It's a bloody hour and a half flight away FFS! After claiming wanting to be a one club player when he was drafted by us, and that he wanted to repay our faith in him... to then turn around and do that as soon as his contract is up for renewal... he can go and get ******.

Whinge about travelling to Melbourne to play games. Whinge that it’s not even that far FFS!

We've been through this plenty of times with Scully, Frawley and yeah, going back to Scott Thompson.
Agree, player leaving happens to all clubs. It's the nature of modern AFL, so best to just get used to it. As long as there is reasonable compensation, I have no real complaints... talking of which the Dees wanted Frawley to leave, given the overvaluing of his FA pick. ;)

No doubt he will have a better work life balance at Melbourne. What with the team choosing what trainings they do and those extra holidays in September they get.
Didn't your guys knock off a week early last year?

Lever was close to the only bloke who turned up to work on your last day......

Not to mention captain courageous Taylor Walker. Delivered a performance the total opposite of awe inspiring for a leader in the biggest game of the year. Hard to see the players being motivated to play for a guy like that again if that was how he performed on GF day.

People leave their places of employment for a vast number of reasons. I know people that I’ve worked with that have left to go overseas or interstate for more money. And I’ve known people to move back to their home in order to be near family if required. I mean seriously, AFL is a job, it’s employment, people like the OP are just in the mindset that it’s all about club loyalty like the old days. The commercial landscape has changed all that.

But he talks tough!

what a disgraceful position jim put that young boy in if true. can imagine the lols if scully told a man on his deathbed that he was leaving his club, would have just lifted the room. given jim’s state at the time he can be forgiven for doing that to tom, he clearly wasn’t of sound mind.

the fact is lever and scully both left for the pay day, they’re no different.

He was the club president, wasn’t like he was a random supporter...

Because they believe it makes them look better than saying "that extra $350k a year the Demons put up will help set me up for life".

They're wrong.

There comes a time in every man's life when the bond that linked you in a pretty significant way to old friends and places gets frazzled and snaps like the logic centre of a Flat Earther's brain. You're a young man drafted to play a sport a long way from home and you get paid very well for making the move, but are you really that happy about it all? After a couple of seasons you say to yourself, "i'm pretty good at this shit, do i really need these flemwads?" You get older, you know you're good and you grow apart from your first lot of teammates despite playing in a Grand Final. You start thinking "people move, get jobs, start families, haunt labyrinths, i can do this back at home and get paid even more, i think can make a move back and play with some real mates or at least get together with them to do super-keen jigsaw puzzles on Sundays!
Lever better have thick skin, footy fans from all over the country will have him in their sights this season.

The constant sooking from crows fans about Lever is hilarious. I’m sure they thought it was fine when Betts/Gibbs/Jacobs wanted to come to SA.

Yeah, nah.

Betts came for $$ because Carlton were stuffing his contract around.
Jacobs has said he left because of opportunity.
Gibbs has said his partner needed family support with a young baby.

I think you'll find Crows fans aren't sooking about Lever leaving - they're anti his whole public reasons for doing it, which are lame at best. It's as bad as Tippett's bullshit about wanting to go home ... to Sydney. Most accepted Bock, who said he left for Gold Coast cash and Davis, who said GWS' money would set him up for life.

Lever should just tell us what that extra $350k a year would buy, and how a 21-year-old can't turn down that much cash.
