Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

That's why I think Richmond is the best fit. But Dogs fans would want both those first-rounders at 15 and 16. Richmond would be entitled to offer one of them with steak knives. Picks 15 + 50 is equal to pick 10-11 in points value.

Would be an intriguing fit for Geelong if their other deals fall through and they get something for Motlop and Menzel.

I think we would walk over hot coals to get him but we don't have much in the way of currency compared to other suitors.

Depends if he actually wants out and who else is in play clubwise. If your offer is best then you have a good chance.

I don't think clubs will get into a bidding war against each other as far as trade value goes.

If Stringer were to leave he'd nominate one club and then that club would have to satisfy the bulldogs with a trade.

Lever to Melbourne for pick 10 and 2018 first.
Pick 10 to Bulldogs
Stringer to Essendon
Orazio to Adelaide

Do you think he'd benefit from another environment??
Personally I think st kilda would be a great fit for him. Just can't see us going all in to get stringer.
I am sure he would be a boon for any club. He has X factor. It's whether a deal can be done for him. Dogs will want a high pick or a quality player. Terry Wallace believes he is worth a pick similar to where he was drafted. So I guess in the 5-8 bracket. I'm not sure if he could be used as part of a Josh Kelly, Jake Lever, Tom Lynch deal. I don't know.
I do know he is an exciting but at times frustrating player. I think he will be a better player in a new environment rather than at the Dogs. His time there is now borrowed.

Dreaming.

Dogs might want a top 5 pick but if they're the ones pushing him out, that becomes a hard sell.

We might put our 2018 1st on the table but he probably wants to stay in melbourne to be closer to his kids anyway.

What will come in for Menzel and Motlop?

Probably 2nd round compo (picks 35 and 36).

We have picks 20 34 and a 2018 1st although some may go in other trades.

Would Richmonds first pick get it done? Or would a player of sorts needed to be included, with a 2nd round or pick upgrade coming back?
If you had of finished 12th maybe. Oh well, you will just have to watch your team try and win the premiership instead. Get past Cats, emotional pumped 90k crowd at the G in a prelim ?
Huge chance.

Brett Anderson said he's worth a top 6 pick, Plough said he's worth a high end first round pick.

If we don't see an offer under pick 10, I'd hope that we keep him. Actually I hope that we keep him regardless.

What dogs need probably isn't around at pick 9 in the draft. As a dogs fan, I'm hoping Pies, Roos and Blues get involved. We need a top 6 pick.

So my preference would be something like

Pies get Stringer, we get 6 straight swap

Blues get Stringer, pick 9 and we get pick 3 and the Adelaide pick for Gibbs

Roos get Stringer, pick 9 and we get 4 and 21 and possibly a small set of steak knives.

If Richmond wanted him then I'd want their first, and Geelong's which they have - let's say pick 14 and 15 for arguments sake and we'd send them our second in return.
We won't be going anywhere near him.

Looks like only Victorian clubs are in the frame if he chooses to leave.

Which clubs would pull the pin?

North (at least enquire), Essendon (would be useful for them in the midfield), Carlton? St kilda (certainly in the race), Richmond (don't think so), Geelong (doubt it, but possible with retirements), Melbourne (not sure) and Collingwood (maybe, if they sort out Mayne's contract).

Is he worth more than Carlisle who had walked? I think he has played at a much higher level.
Saints gave up picks 5 + 24 for Carlisle + pick 14?

In points value, that equates roughly to pick 9-10.

I'd say that's roughly around the mark for Stringer, although Carlisle had the advantage of being a genuine KPP.

I would happily offer that.
Let's assume Geelong finish fourth in 2018, giving them pick 15. And they get pick 35 this year as compensation for Motlop.

Pick 15 (2018) + 35 (2017) equates in points value to pick 7-8.

That would be around the mark, wouldn't it?

The risk for the Dogs would be Geelong finishing higher than fourth next year.

Presumably your 2018 first-rounder would need to be on the table to poach Stringer. Plus sugar.

2018 first-rounder + Motlop compo?

Assuming those picks end up as say 12-16 and 35 i would be happy with that yes. Or i would do our 2018 1st + a fringe type player if they preferred that.

I think its moot though i think other clubs will offer him more $ (which he will want) and he will want to stay in melb rather than move to geelong.
