To be honest, it never occured to me prior tonight to even consider throwing Jamo up at FF.

But seeing as we have Henderson holding down back OK, with a pretty solid rebounding game, and in light of Jamisons performance vs the Hawks, and question marks over Waite, could he be the marking forward we need?

He looked a natural (notwithstanding it was his first game back in two months).

Reads the play very well, leads and presents, strong mark. Earlier this year he was outmarking key forwards on the lead by out leading them to the ball remember (and that is a rare trait to have).

Worth a risk?

Big change with only one game to the finals, but we've been playing without him for 8 weeks, so I cant see the harm in persisting.

Thoughts? Yes/ No/ only as a swingman?

Yeah, he'll get first dibs on Riewoldt... However, I'd almost be tempted to try Robert Walls strategy and give Kreuzer a go. Kreuze can cover Riewoldt over the ground, not many backs can do that (Jamo probably can).

I think the negatives have been well and truly covered so I'll just say I was impressed with Jamo up forward, especially since he's underdone. He actually has presence and marking ability combined with his jet like speed off the mark. Such a classy player, amazing to think he was just a rookie.

Having said that, it's sad we have to try and rely on our underdone fullback to kick goals. But he's a wonderful player.

That's from the rant thread, I didnt see this one.

I think he's probably too good a defender to constantly rob the backline of him but if he can be a swingman we'll have even more options and versatility. He looked good, I wonder if he's been working on his forward play a bit, seemed to know what he was doing than the previous couple of times I've seen him play there. Only really annoying thing is everytime he missed it seems like he was immediately sent back to the defense, I could be wrong. Maybe he was just swinging like Thornton.

Is a far better defender. He only played forward because he was utterly buggered in the second half and we still have no legitimate tall forward target.

But do we?

I reckon Jamison could be that forward target.

We lost that game not due to lacking defensive rebound, but due to not having a legitimate marking target in our F50.

Its our main weakness.

At least we found out that he's capable. Wouldn't have him there for the the amount of time he was there yesterday for the rest of the year but a pre season working both ends and he'll be our best player next to Judd.

The lack of a tall marking option is our biggest downfall atm. However, I dont advocate the club picking up Fev unless we can rookie him and get him for nothing. I think that if we make a move for him, the paddlepops are going to try and rip us a new one

Taking our best defender into attack is not the solution to our forward structure issues, maybe like a few others he can pinch hit there but this is a short term option, we have to make best with what we have this year and look for a long term solution at year end, if Waite is not available our next best option is to play O'Alphin or Henderson down there.

He looked natural, classy, great up forward last night. Was one of the few positives. Wouldn't be against giving him more time as a forward. Why not? Great speed, our best mark by a mile, and silky disposal.

I know Henderson said he wants to play forward, but he looks much better as a defender who can do some damage on the counter-attack.

Definitely impressed me up forward. Opens up possibilities where there haven't been any.

I reckon he's worth a shot up forward vs the Saints.

Roo's out of form as well.

Play Waite down back?

Would hate to see Waite down back. Waite and Jamo are our best contested marks, would be great for both of them to be in the forward 50. Henderson and (??) holding the fort down back (Davies?:o)

Pre knee injury Waite was on fire as CHB. Has the tank and agressive flair to shut down CHF.

We need to be straightened up somehow. Big factor in looking more potent in that second half up forward was the addition of Jamo up there.

Id love to see what he is capable of with time and experience up forward, and playing the role sans injury layoff.

Can we clone him perhaps?

Waite comes back and goes forward, maybe even O'halpin and the structural hole is filled. I'm not a huge fan of moving Jamison forward when I think it is clear he is needed back, and will return there with fitness

It makes me sick. Coincidental that once Jamison went forward we began our run?

But its a weakness that is very very hard to fill!

Why couldn't they just transplant Stick's brain into Fev's head .... sigh.

Wow.. I thought Thornton was the forward we needed?? No surprise that in a higher stakes game, he wasn't the answer. Looked alright down back though.... oh ..wait...
Best case scenario as it now appears

Duigan Jamo Yaz
Laids Hendo Russell

Walker Kruez Garlett
Betts Waite Ellard

Setanta to come in if Waite doesn't get up
OR
Bower to release Hendo back to CHF (if Waite doesn't get up)

No. He is a fullback and should stay at fullback unless we really need to roll the dice.

He has played forward a few times and has been below par. He has kicked only 1 goal in his entire career. He is not a natural forward.

What he is is an AA quality fullback. And that's where he should play.

HB: Yarran Henderson Russell
FB: Laidler Jamison Duigan

Yes please.

Gee gee gee, he is a fullback simple as that. The fact that we played him up forward last night as a desperate measure. I do not and will not understand the MC, Setanta should have
played he is the only big man we have yet he is still average. But Betts and Gartlett seem to stand taller when he is playing.

Ratts to me has stuffed up if you ask me. Is Russell in the best 22 or not, Bower not given game time against lower opposition. Duigann should have been rested, you can see it that he is tired. He has left it to the last game against St KILda too late for me.
What are the supporters to think when the likes of Russell are not playing.GWS?

Jamo is easily our best option at FB and is one of the best FB's in the competition.

Last night down back he looked like someone that had not played in 8 weeks. However he did very well when moved into the forward line and looked the most likely to help force a result for us.

That doesn't mean he's a forward. All it indicates is that if the shit hits the fan in a game down the track, we have the flexibility to be able to shift him into the forward line as an option.

He's a defender first and foremost, and an outstanding one at that. Expect him to play VFL next week then resume programming as normal on Riewoldt in round 24.
