Jesse Hogan(mini-draft)- priority for us

Yes but every first found pick is going to be the best player that ever has been, until they actually play a game of footy, at which point there value drops to spud level and they should be traded for another first round pick as soon as possible.

Broughton + 2nd Rounder + Clarke for Hogan and Giles... wishful thinking i know but cant help but feel the club will be looking at the bigger package swap because a straight 1 for 1 will never happen.

Either that or they upgrade their first rounder with another club and go hard for Shaw. But i cant see shaw doing anything next year so may as well throw the bank to get hogan. Sick of seeing the kpf stars go to other clubs. Whoever said it earlier is right, we wont have a chance at a top 5 draft pick for a very very long time...

Isn't Sheedy on record as saying he would not be trading with Freo after we shafted his mate Harvey??

Not sure the old bugger will stand by that but if was GC were dealing with like we did for Faulks and Mzungu I would be more confident.

If Hogan is the next Pavlich then yes we should be going all out for it with our first pick + player(s) because we will not get another chance for some time. KPD we do not have as much depth obviously and not sure Silvagni, Faulks or JA would cut it somehow.

Jesse Hogan weighed in at 97.4 Kg's at draft camp. Massive for a 17 year old. He should be an exception to the rule of not playing next year because he is more ready than some of the older guys who will be drafted this year.

Not only that but he was top 10 in the beep test so he's not just a fatty.

I think it is about maturity as well as physical capability. There is a lot of pressure put on these kids, a year being developed in the AFL system (I presume he would train with the team that picks him?) won't kill him or the team he goes to.

Oddly Jack Martin hasn't really featured in any of the athletic tests. I thuoght he was supposed to be a bit of a freak athelete... He has done well in the skills tests though.

Interesting article on the AFL website about the Hogan minidraft situation. Looks like we are outsiders

I wonder as a left field idea what the thoughts are on Retzlaff who has been delisted by Brisbane and so is now an unrestricted FA. Has done his ACL so the suggestion is Brisbane have only delisted him to rookie him, but does the new FA environment change the gentleman's agreement here? He is only 20, good KPF prospect, we wouldn't get much out of him next year but if we miss out on Hogan and Gumbleton he'll cost nothing except a wage and list spot.

If someone is delisted, they don't become 'free agents', common misconception. They still need to use either the national draft, PSD or rookie draft to get re-drafted.

This from the AFL website
A player has served seven seasons or fewer of AFL football at one club, and has been delisted by his club. The player is a free agent and is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs.
The player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.
The player can move AUTOMATICALLY to the new club of his choice.
His original club, which chose to delist him, does not receive any compensation pick for the loss of the player.

Pick 5 and 6 for Martin from the Bulldogs, is he worth this? Considering he cant play till 2014, is one player worth two,
who can play straight up next year.
Its the same for us, was glad we didnt go too hard for Jaeger, and the cost of Hogan will be great.
With Mellington, Crozier, Mayne, Pav, Balla, Walters, Kep, Clark, and what about Moller, I would rather use our fist draft
pick, and back our recruiters, one of the KPF's will fall to us.

I think the general view is the Bulldogs will give 5 & 6 for Martin and a later pick or player, not Martin alone

It doesn't make sense to me. Why don't they just back their recruters to select two guns at pick 5 & 6 this year? It is a strong draft and they will be able to play next year.
