There is some lively debate over in the Essendon main board thread and I say we settle this once and for all.

If you had to pick one of these players to represent your football club, who would it be.

Jobe Watson or Shane Tuck?

How the heck is this a fair poll? Watson will win this in a canter, the debate was about whether or not Watson was a A grader, my reply was if Watson is a A grader then Tuck would be A grade material also.

As I said in my post on the Essendon 2011 Thread, Tuck would have to be the most under rated AFL player.

Shane Tuck isn't an A grader

Watson is clearly Bummers best player. I think every club has an A Grader. Very close to AA. Did he win B&F? If Watson is not an A Grader, then nobody at Richmond is. Simple.

I would say Deledio is as good, if not slightly better than Watson. Jack Riewoldt is about on par with Watson. Both of those guys aren't elite, but definitley A grade material.

Clearance work, leadership and ball winning
If you actually bothered to read the stats I posted in the other thread then you would notice that in regards to Clearance work, there is pretty much nothing between the 2.

I understand stats aren't the be all and end all of things, but in terms of purely as clearance players nothing splits them.

Hehe, very clever. However, I think Jobe Watson is an A grader. He isn't elite, but hes a damn good player and deserves an A rating
Agreed Watson is a damn good player, but I guess it comes down to how people classify 'A Grade'.

Agree. What i meant was that if you cant call Watson A Grade, you cant call a Tiger A Grade. Watson is as good as any Tiger player. Agree Reiwoldt and Deledio are the two equals of Watson. All A Grade IMO (with about 50 other players)
Then we have elite...Buddy, Hodge, Ablett, Judd, Pav etc.

Of course you wouldn't. Everybody knows you're hopelessly biased
Why would you need to swap a proven Premiership player, who has performed on the biggest stage, against one unproven at that level? There is nothing of a biased nature in that, they are the facts.

Both have similar stats
Both have similar playing styles
Both have too many glaring deficiencies to be called A grade

Watson is better but not by as much as some would think, Tuck is underated even by Tiger fans, he's very good at what he does just rubbish at everything else.

Jack and Lids though both have the possibility (even if it is distant) to step up to elite, given the right circumstances. Given Watson's age I doubt he'll ever get there. But I agree that all are currently A grade, and Tuck is probably B+ at best.
