Who is/has been the better player?

Corey was an All Australian in 2007 and 2008 whilst Hayes made the team in 2003, 2005 and 2009.

Hayes, better disposal.

Corey's a big unit though and wins a hell of a lot of tough ball when Geelong needs him, he just butchers it more often than not.

Hayes pretty easily... bit of an unfair comparison really.

Hayes is more damaging and is a better extractor.

Corey is more of a quiet achieving workhorse.

over their career I'd vote Corey, he was underrated for many years before getting the AA selections and even after he didn't get much hype as he stays right away from any publicity or media work.
He's been a superior finals performer and even in 2012, much won't be made about him as some will suggest he's faded away similarly to Hayes after his recent knee injury but his output will be every bit as good as any top class midfielder in the league.
Not in terms of his disposal efficiency but his ability to outrun his opponent and find the ball when it's needed.

Both are absolute champion players who have got the most out of their themselves and you would still have to say they are two of the hardest running players.

Really good voting comparison DVD :thumbsu:

Corey is our workhorse, our fourth quarter specialist when everyone else is knackered he shines, he has a weakness though, his disposal is towards the lower quality end at Geelong. Unlike other average kicks though you will rarely see him make mistakes with it as he plays clever and within his means.

He wont be the Geelong player attempting pinpoint passes between opposition but he will invariably be in the chain that gets it to the player that does.

Hayes is also an A+ clearance player while Corey is a solid A, and while I dont believe his disposal is his strength for a clearance specialist it is more then acceptable. So Hayes is better.

Corey is slightly under rated, Hayes is slightly over rated. I voted for about even but I'd have to say on the balance Hayes might just pip Corey. Just.

I made my point pretty clearly. However, in the last few days since posting I decided to re-watch the last quarter of the 2009 GF. Corey was everywhere, Hayes was nowhere. Can I change my vote to Corey?

Is that the game Geelong had the 2007 Brownlow Medalist tag Hayes? Who was running with Corey if anyone McQualter LOL.
