they can't have Mal Michael & Courtney Johns in the same backline together. it won't work.

they can't have Matthew Lloyd & Courtney Johns in the same forwardline together. it won't work either.

we're obviously not going to sack Michael and Lloyd, so leave Johns out of the team and play someone else. they're only hurting his career by playing him on guys like Scott Pendlebury. it's Ted Richards all over again (in a way). i bet Johns will end up starring for Sydney one day. you heard it here first .

Simply put Johns does not have enough tricks to make it at afl level.

Simply you have to have at least have some footy smarts and agility to make it at this level. Here is an artists impression of what Johns would look like with these qualities.

People said the same about Kepler Bradley - he was played out of position. Fremantle picked him up and tried playing him at CHF... and they're saying he's a dud there too (I live in W.A).

I used to be a John's fan, but he's not been able to make the extra step to AFL level. Worse - he isn't showing a great deal of improvement at all. I think it's time to cut our losses on him.

When he's playing inside the forward line, he's a one trick pony. Lead, and if the ball doesn't come to him, he very rarely leads again whilst the ball is in the same hands. He's intimidating but even that isn't enough in this day and age.

I think he's a reasonable backman, although nothing special he does his job. Lacks the pace to stop the quicker opponents i'm afraid.

Actually, based on his game against Tredrea, he could be a full-back. Easily our best option in terms of the kickouts (i.e. he actually hits the right target - unlike Welsh, Nash, Monfries, Stanton, Lovett-Murray..or anyone else who's done it in the last 12 months).

Will be in the VFL/SANFL/WAFL next year though.
