On the Couch showed stats tonight that Dawson's numbers are significantly better against top 8 sides than those outside the top 8.
He's a big game player.

Interesting data, with retention rating and then kicking efficiency, they seem to have very little correlation but give the impression they should be similar.
I think a lot of people have doubts about kicking efficiency data.
Hinge and Dawson taking the most dangerous ( threat rating) kicks, which looks about right
This shows how important Dawson is to the team
Smith not taking the dangerous kicks and not retaining possession, Just trying to be a metres gained, bomb it long player
It would be good if the afl showed the retention rating data

I think the number of defenders and lack of forwards indicates that data is still severely flawed.
So only 24 players in the afl have positive ratings?

Further - Merrett threat rating is negative. Does that mean that whilst his kicks are retained, he probably puts team mates under pressure or into a position where the opposition are more likely to score.

I think it's a general rating of how likely a kick taken from one position on the field to another position results in a score. So there's no inference of retention; a player that's a worse kick is less likely to nail a high threat kick

Not super noteworthy, but skip is now #1 in the comp for I50’s per game. For context, our next best is Rankine in 60th place

How much better did we look in the last quarter when we had Dawson, Rankine & Soligo as our main players around the ball...
Dawson did his utmost to win the game when it was on the line.
Thankfully he was smart enough to just get a score on the board when we were one point down.
It always shits me how players will try to somehow pinpoint a mark for goal in a F50 filled with 40 players, when they're one point down with a minute to go. Just tie up the score first! You can then clog up the exit and try to get a second point for the win.

I'd say any stat whereby the alternative is apocalyptic qualifies as pretty noteworthy.
To be fair, it wasn't as if his numbers weren't really down to start the season, he was just burning it terribly by foot - but was still getting the inside 50 entries. His class just starting to show again.
