Not sure bout this.
Alot of good things have come from christianity.

As have a lot of absolutely horrifying things.

It is however irrelevant whether someone's insanity (as CM considers it) drives them to do good or bad. It has no bearing on whether it is insanity or not.

Even many religious people seem to feel the same way about people more extreme than themselves.
e.g. If you believe that Jesus was the son of god who came to Earth and died for the sins of mankind before resurrecting and then ascending to heaving in physical form, to one day return to Earth at the end of days....you're religious...

but

If you believe that Jesus was the son of god who came to Earth and died for the sins of mankind before resurrecting and then ascending to heaving in physical form, to one day return to Earth at the end of days...and that will be a Tuesday in March....you're obviously crazy!

Religion presents an irrational framework to work rationally within.

The most dangerous frame of mind there is. The numbers say we've lost millions of lives among all the "healing work", even more damning when you consider the help can and does readily exist without religion.

The grandest problem of all in our world is no one posing the most fundamental of spiritual questions - is faith an inherently valid, healthy concept?

It is not. Nationalism is not far removed from it either.

Allows us to delist Tippett before re-listing Joyce. Assuming we're allowed to de-list him after the draft....

Also allows us to pick up another player but we have to delist someone first

Does this mean that we intend to draft two kids (plus Callinan) on Thursday and then rookie Joyce?
No.. it means that we can draft two players on Thursday, in addition to upgrading Callinan. Tippett then gets delisted once the AFL allow us to do so. This frees up a position which we can use to re-draft Joyce in the PSD.

Adelaide will have two ‘live’ picks in this week’s AFL National Draft - Nos.20 and 54 - while selection No.64 will be used to finalise rookie Ian Callinan’s promotion to the senior list.

So when Tippett is delisted, we will have a spot for Joyce in the PSD.

So we don't have to de-list anyone else?

Nope, when Tippett is delisted after the ND, it frees up a spot for Joyce in the PSD. We still have picks #20 and #54 plus #64 to upgrade Callinan.

so what happens if on Nov 30 the AFL decides to ban us from the PSD?
Highly unlikely, particularly given that they know we're just re-drafting a player that we were forced to delist due to their SNAFU.

If we are penalised draft picks (and I think that's highly likely), they will come from the 2013 ND and (possibly) PSD. I think it's highly unlikely that our ability to participate in the PSD will be impacted - that boat sailed when they postponed our hearing until after the ND and forced us to keep Tippett on the list until the hearing was settled.

Isn't he a free agent after the ND meaning we can pick him before the PSD? If we can delist our friend for life.

Cheers. Probably the optimal outcome for the crows. Not so for poor Joycey though.

If they ban us from the 2012 PSD they'll be asking us to go in to 2013 with empty spaces on our senior list. I suspect the AFLPA would have a thing or two to say about that.
Last time AFL forced a club to play short (2 players short) of a full player list was 1995 when Sydney "lost" Locketts contract in the mail. Been numerous breaches since then without that penalty being imposed again.

Hey guys - Having a discussion over on another Pies board, and we're not sure how the maths on your list situation works. We have it as:

In: Brad Crouch, Angus Graham, Pick #20, Pick #54, Pick #64 (Ian Callinan)
Out: Michael Doughty, Chris Knights, Brad Symes, Kurt Tippett

Joyce is being re-drafted onto the senior list, so he's no net change.

Isn't that five onto the senior list and only four out? Are we missing someone?

WTF? If you are counting Joyce back in again with pick 54 to make 5 on, why arent you counting him off?

We now have two veterans (Reilly and Rutten/Johncock) so our senior list is one player larger, and we forfeit a Round 1 nominated rookie.

We're getting Joyce through the PSD...

Pick #54 will be a new player.

Not according to 5AA who have spoken to the crows. Pick 20 a new player, pick 54 is Callinan upgrade and those are the only picks we will be using in the National Draft. In order to pick up Joyce in the pre-season we will not be using pick 64 in the ND but will have a pick in the pre-season (to be determined depending on if other clubs use all their ND picks or not).

Although I am a little confused about this as when Tippett finally drops off our list, then we gain another spot, hence another pick for the PSD. Leif was adamant though that only 20 and 54 would be used and 54 earmarked for the Callinan upgrade.
