Pathetic thread.

Kane Cornes would be easily the best player at the Blues, hands down.

great timing you idiot..... that's why neally all our players were better than him on sat night :thumbsu:

He did nothing with the posessions he got, a midfield version of joel "30 touch" Bowden

You guys (especially blues4flag) are just criticizing him because hes not in your dream team.....IM 100% if u had him....you wouldn't say shit........

Have some respect. To come 2nd in the b&f in a premeirship year is a good effort. Great player

Gee there are some nuff nuffs around tonight. No one is saying Kane Cornes is a crap player, simply that he was a much better player when he actually focussed on his opponent and tried to completely reduce their input on the game. His 2004 season was excellent; his job on Black was one of a few match winning performances given how Black has been and continued to be when it comes to clearances and hitting targets inside 50.

The comment regarding Ling is spot on - Ling doesn't like to admit it but all he did last year was chase easy kicks across the half back line. Kane isn't as bad as this in that he still gets some contested possession, but does this role really help the team?

Imagine if he had actually locked down on Andrew Walker or Andrew Carrazzo on Saturday night; he might have actually swung things Port's way. Why he is being played in this role no one knows - but my dream team isn't complaining

Keep it up Kane:thumbsu::o

Does anyone know why he stopped tagging? Coaches or his decision? Hope he doesn't get back into it this year though...:D

Have a sook. Sorry to tell you, but the whole world does not revolve around DT. Yeah, he's a gun DTer, but doesn't make a good or effective player.

And, regardless of what you might think, Bartel is a much, much better player than Cornes.

What?

I think Jimmy has started to pick up quite a few cheapies this year as well

Same with Daniel Cross
:o

Picking up more cheapies, but gets more of the hard ball and is actually effective with his possessions. Few players are as good a defensive mark as he is, and he does it week in, week out.

Didn't comment on this thread when I first saw it even though I was really surprised at the low opinion of KC.

Personally I think he's a gun. He isn't a tagger like he used to be, he's not a pure in and under player - he does a bit of everything and does it all well. I hardly ever see him waste a ball, a lot of times when he kicks short he is (necessarily) resetting Port's direction, when he drives it forward it almost always results in a goal, and he always runs to support the direction he sets.

He goes in when the ball is in dispute, ties up opposition with very good tackling - hardly ever giving away a free, he can tag the best out of a game and still get the ball himself, and is usually marked by solid taggers when he's getting his 25-35 touches per week, of which next to none are coughed up and almost all go to a player under no pressure.

When he does stay outside it's to make sure the ball is used well. He also doesn't stop running all game, and "generals" where the ball is moved... What's not to like?? By the way, anyone watching the Essendon game? Because he's doing it all again tonight...

When his sole purpose is to tag he is absolutely excellent.

He does get cheap touches, but hey he will run and run all day long and gives his all, he just deosnt have the natual ability to create.

Alot of his possessions are wait behind the pack/receive stuff. ie; a midfield version of Matthew Lloyd

All that's been said in this thread is correct.

He's a good player, who would make most/all teams but he isn't damaging and probably isn't being used appropriately at present.
