Is there no end to the CFL's lifelong conspiracy persecution of Richmond....
Do you think it's comparatively fair that Lynch got 5 weeks, and Keane got a $1,500 fine?

I'm not sure if he should have been suspended but it's a funny world where if that punch is two inches closer to Melksham jaw Keane is looking at 6+ weeks..

Outcome not action.

People won't like to hear this, but if Butts doesn't go down the way he did last week (not blaming him in any way, btw), the likelihood of Lynch being suspended dramatically drops, rightly or wrongly (definitely wrongly).

I have to say, the attempts (by Richmond fans only it appears) to equate what Lynch did to Butts, to Keane not hitting Melksham and in entirely different context and manner, to reek of desperation for vindication.

Lynch deserved his weeks. Keane didn't. Move on.
Nah bullshit, Lynch is a grub and deserved weeks but Keane deserved at least 1 for a stupid non football act.

From my view, it's much less about equating the two actions, and much more about equating the reasoning of Lynch's suspension with Keane's action.

You say Melksham wasn't hit, from the only view I've seen (where Melksham has his back to the camera) it's not possible to determine whether contact was made. The video shows Melksham's head move as Keane's fist passes by, but whether that is because contact occurred or whether Melksham saw the fist and dodged, (a) cannot be determined; and (b) is really neither here nor there.

My last (I believe) post in the Lynch thread from his suspension, as well as my post above yours here kind of says it all as to how farcical the last 2 weeks have been in terms of non-football acts being punished.

I think by now we've seen most of the vision from the Richmond v Crows match, and clearly Lynch threw more than one of those backhanded hits at Butts throughout the game, with many hitting Butts high up on the back. We've also seen Butts throw fists at Lynch (that don't hit), as well as Lynch throw punches/apply fends that have hit Butts on the chin/cheek. Yet the only action that has resulted in Lynch being suspended was one where Butts goes to ground (ie. illusion of injury/potential to cause harm).

In the round that immediately followed the Lynch suspension, we saw Toby Greene throw an open-handed punch at Reid's face (which doesn't connect because Reid moves his head, not because Greene showed any duty of care), and now Keane a backhanded punch at Melksham that may or may not have connected (like I said earlier, I've only seen one angle that can suggest either).

Toby Greene wasn't cited at all because the punch didn't land, and Keane was fined, so clearly the MRO thought that there was contact.

If we were to rank which of these incidents should be suspended, then the actual action that got Lynch suspended would be near the bottom of that list.

That is why you have so many (Richmond) supporters asking why Keane wasn't suspended based on the REASONING form Lynch's tribunal case (the reasoning, not the actual action).
