sorry gotta add, if anybody has any idea.....

when i say disconnect i'm meaning the modem itself stuffs up......the red light starts flashing. (all cables are tight....i checked)
but when i turn off the system and restart (just to be certain) the red light turns solid green again on the modem.....

and i mean this has happened before, (having red light flashing on modem...but just in general, not while playing a game) when it was a problem on the isp's end...

but i don't think this is problem with them because it has only happened when i'm playing kz2.

played it for the first time last night

finished the first mission in the campaign - pretty bloody hard !!

the aiming is rather difficult

then played some multiplayer and got disconnected a few times too camo

didnt really enjoy the multiplayer that much and left and played cod4

got a lot more playing but this didnt really set the world on fire for me last night

well what do ya ****en know!

i jumped on to play KZ2 again and i got D/C AGAIN!
but this time at least i got 2 and a half games in.

and what's worse is that the match was still going (not much time left i don't think) and i was the #1 player by a mile in my best round to date with almost 50 kills and 22 deaths i think

now i don't get ANY of the flipping points for it! (even though my team was losing i wouldn't have got the 1.5x bonus) but still i would rather the rank up points so i can unlock more things!

FFS THIS IS A JOKE!

but i can't stop because the multiplayer is RIDICULOUSLY satisfying just like cod4's but with a diff feel

Da_Vaspaniel was on the other team and felt my shotgun a couple of times :P

I should be on tonight if anyone would like to have there arse handed to them on a platter.

It was 1:00pm and I was sitting at my desk doing nothing. I couldn't handle it anymore. I went down to Chadstone as fast as I could and went into JB Hi-Fi. I lined up straight away and I asked for Killzone 2. The lady turned around and spent a few seconds rummaging around. Just as my heart was sinking, she said they were out of cases. No biggy - I've now got Killzone 2 with a Killzone 2 case covered in stickers. :p

But I couldn't care less. I have Killzone 2 and it's not going back in the case for a loooong time.

I fired up the campaign straight away. Soon as I load the game in, my PSN disconnects (CaMo style). I had already witnessed the opening of the game on youtube, but it doesn't even touch the jaw-dropping quality visible on a 46" screen with surround sound pumping.

The campaign so far (i'm up to Salamun district) is good. Good, but not amazing. The game is sometimes frustrating, mainly due to the laggy controls and the constantly shifting Helghast. It's one big game of patience. A soldier runs behind cover and pokes his head up, but before I can move my reticule over to him he ducks. So I prepare to pop his head off when he comes back up by hovering my aimer around the original general vicinity. But guess what? He pops back up 3 metres away at the other side of the wall and I have to do the whole process again until he comes up at the same spot or if I get lucky.

The graphics are pretty good. It's no Crysis, but it's one of the best looking console games ever. Nearly all of the environmental textures are low res, but that is due to a sacrifice made for some of the most incredible things seen in a game. The particle effects, the lighting and even the physics had never been seen on a console until KZ2. They're just amazing.

When my PSN managed to log back in and when the campaign started to get a bit tedious, I had a crack at the multiplayer. I already knew about it, but I almost creamed my pants when I saw the region filter for my own eyes. The first thing I noticed was the spawn map, I don't know how to change location, so screw it. The next MAJOR thing I noticed was the improvement to the controls. They actually feel right in MP. The accelartion curve feels a bit strange and will take some getting used to, but the tightness of the controls has a perfect balance. I can see myself playing multiplayer for ever. I only spent about 10 minutes playing it and i've already made that bold prediction. It's just that good.

After you've played KZ2, it makes you wonder what the hell other game developers are doing. The amount of effort that has gone into this game is phenomenal. It's the most complete game ever made.

i agree with your comments scooter. im at about the same spot as you in sp. havent tried mp yet. will wait till i finish the story. the story hasnt really engaged me, neither has the gameplay. I judge every fps against cod4, nothing is yet to beat it. this game is pretty, but so far it feels very linear and narrow. whereas cod4 felt more open. the sp control feel, is not quite setting the world on fire either.

don't wait for them.

the whole single player i ambushed them myself and took the fight straight to them...

stuff picking them off one by one...if i did that it probably would've ruined the game for me.

use the knife up close too...it is absolutely ridiculously effective!

pretty sure i could beat the whole game besides bosses and heavies with just the knife :D

and yeh the multiplayer is the bomb!

once i reach general i will switch between this and cod4 regularly i think

really incredible multiplayer once you get the hang of it.

i'm just not used to dying so much though which i'll need to sort out without resorting to camping. :P

oh...just one more thing. i got a 5 kill grenade at the start of the last round i played BAM!

Im guessing u were host of that match since about the time u got disconnected everyone got a message on their screen saying that they couldnt connect to the host, but the game keeps on going which is good at least.

LOL and i did get on the end of that shotgun a couple times, im still tinkering with what setup i like the best atm, giving engineer a run now just to see how it goes.

Cant wait till theres enough of us online to have our own little party happening :D

regarding the dots always being on....the room you entered must've had that as an option.

when i looked in the create a room lobby it was an option but every game i've ever played online has had the red dot only come up when a shot has been fired.
Yep, definetly an option, this games online structure is almost EXACT to R:FoM, and I LOVE IT!!! I have stated a shitload of times that R:FoM is the best online experience I have had, and it is because of the way it was set up, the customisation of matches, the ability to pick and choose, everything about it was fantastic, now we get the great Killzone 2 gameplay coupled with it and this is looking like taking R:FoM over!

Thought I'd mention that in the couple of games I played I didn't have a disconnection, but GG have acknowledged that some have and are working on it.

I'm really surprised you say this, COD4 was one of the most corridor/linear shooters there has been, Killzone 2 IMO is nowhere near as linear, the non-linearity of the battles and combat is really great, and allows for so many different situations in the battle, so many times I've been able to run around to all different areas in the arena's to take enemies down, COD4 didn't really allow for this, it tended to push you into certain areas than let you go to where you wanted too.

don't wait for them.
But it's too hard to quickly aim them up like in CoD or Resistance.
My opinion might change as I move along the campaign and get better, but during these early stages on easy difficulty it's taking a long time to get used to it.

When do you use your knife? I haven't found an opportunity to use it once. The only time I could think of using it is to charge an unsuspecting enemy in a control room. What's wrong with firing 4 or 5 bullets and then following it up with a melee?

Team killing is bad. :)

well i know i didn't start the room.
maybe it auto goes to the person with the fastest connection?

i havn't created a room since getting kz2 as there's no point really since there's already so many games running with little to no lag with the beautiful aus servers (thank you god!)

there definitely is lag but the worst i've felt is probs the equivalent to yellow bars on cod4 which is still a little off but manageable and that's been maybe 2 out of 20 games?
can't expect to eliminate lag completely.

also i really like being an engineer.
generally i HATE using shotguns.
i probably only ever used shotguns about 3 times ever in cod4
but the shotgun in kz2 is a different beast all together and it really suits my run and gun/evasive style getting close to people and blowing their heads off!

and seriously i flipping HATE the medics!! (like what i know you love being!)

i can't tell you how many times i've died and they saved me in the middle of a warzone with an unloaded gun just for me to die again to a grenade or gunfire in a millisecond...it would seriously have to be at least 20 times.
it's just what i want...2 deaths for the price of one! :thumbsd:

actually now that i think about it i'm a little surprised too...even though i have cod4 as the benchmark for fps as well.

but kz2 is nowhere near as linear as far as fps's go

i continually had to click up on the d'pad just to make sure i was heading in the right direction.
the way the sp is set out you can utilize a massive amount of cover/space and take it down as tactical or as run and gun as u like (i chose the run and gun option)

but still i'm a little iffy on the true definition of linear so that's what i'll leave it as

well i just finished campaign, its awesome but the ending could of been better it was the biggest anti-climax ever..lol and multiplayer is the best ive ever played, better than cod, and having ur own custom soundtrack is good to.

can someone please tell me wat happened at the end coz i didnt get it, use spoiler tags. lol,

that's exactly why i ran around cover and flanked them run and gun style shooting from the hip!
in medium sized spurts so that the accuracy remains relatively high.
on easy it should be a piece of cake!

much better than waiting an hour for the AI to make the mistake of going direct into your line of sight and then taking them out.

When do you use your knife? I haven't found an opportunity to use it once. The only time I could think of using it is to charge an unsuspecting enemy in a control room. What's wrong with firing 4 or 5 bullets and then following it up with a melee?

seriously man....
next time you play whip out your knife straight away (against normal helghast...not bosses) and just run at them and knife them....it's a one hit kill and u can just run straight to the next person.
seriously that knife is almost too powerful.
it's obvious why they don't have it in MP.

like i said before i'm certain i could beat the single player with the knife only besides the bosses and vehicle type sections

Team killing is bad. :)

nah man best freakon grenade ever!

it got a shitload of WHOOOAAAAAAA U SEE THAT 'NADE! ahaha

luckiest shit ever....i can't throw grenades in kz2 to save myself though....whereas cod4 i am the grenade king

also don't know how team killing works...
i think all up i have 2 team kills....but i don't know when and how.
i've thrown grenades and blasted my team directly with a shotgun before and they didn't die.

maybe that's also a gametype option.

i'm pretty sure
that it was making the leader of all the helghast a martyr so that when the inevitable KZ3 comes along they will have a sense of purpose to avenge their fallen leader perhaps?

and are you playing on your TheAusAssassin account?

i think i looked for you in my friends stats page and didn't see you so i was just wondering about where/when/on what account u played it (maybe i wasn't looking hard enough :P)

i still can't say that i rate the MP better than cod4....cod4 just gave me too many great times.
but it's def up there.

I suggest(If you haven't already), changing the X and Y axis sensitivities, mines about 3/4 of the way full and it feels really good, I do get times where I am a bit behind where I want to be aiming, but that happens in almost every game for me and it would be fairly simple to play if it didn't.
actually now that i think about it i'm a little surprised too...even though i have cod4 as the benchmark for fps as well.

Basically the way SS stated it wasn't the definition of linear(Linear basically means your guided the whole way through the game and can't really explore anything, think GTA for non-linear, think COD4 or R2 for linear, basically guided everywhere in battle, can't move around too much apart from select corridors, generally why they can be called corridor shooters, ie: giving you no room to move apart from straight).

Killzone 2 is a linear shooter in terms of progression in the game and story, but in battle their is alot less of a linear feel, when you have your set big battles you can really go anywhere to take down the Helghast, I really love this feature, as when/if I die I can take a different path and take them out quicker or in a better tactical way(Learn from your mistakes type of thing), there are usually several paths to take in battle, ranging from higher platforms to under structures and such(And the unpredictable AI helps to make each battle different), COD4 didn't really offer this apart from the one mission(Where you have the several story houses that you can go in).

What the **** is wrong with you people? No one is going to ask how my gaming experience has been?

don't need to

saw that you played a lil bit of multiplayer and got owned and the last i saw of you, you were playing flower

Yep, it is.

I might try your method tomorrow and see how it goes.

P.S - Woah! Kerrby is back. I thought you were dead or something. Killzone 2 came out and we haven't heard shit from you. :p

What's this talk of custom soundtracks? You mean you can actually have your own music playing in the background whilst you play?
You can add your music to your PS3 and make playlists etc.
When you're in game, you open up the XMB and choose what song/songs you want to play.

edit - 4 posts were made whilst i typed out 1 post that was a few words long.
