Don't agree that Boyd is costing us fringe players. IMO we have the money for the players we really want to keep.
If we were under pressure I highly doubt we would have re-signed so many of our players in the past year and signed a FA at the last trade period.

UPDATE: COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has confirmed he met with Western Bulldogs midfielder Lin Jong during last week’s controversial tour of the Magpies’ facility.

And if another out-of-contract player wanted to meet with him and the Pies in-season, Buckley said he would have no hesitation doing it again.

“Derek (Hine) as our list manager is in constant contact to managers and if they felt it was an appropriate step and I was asked to come along then, yeah I would,” Buckley said.

“It happens, and it’s happened consistently and I’m sure it’s happened with the shoe on the other foot.”

Buckley has called Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge and left him a message.

“Incidents such as that, or the fact that it’s out in the public domain takes the focus out from this week, as a senior coach I can put myself in Bevo’s shoes and I can understand where he would be.”

This isn't looking to good. By the looks of it, doesn't look like Bulldogs know Jong was going to facilities

I'd drop Webb before Jong. I'm happy for him to keep playing and we need all the help we can get in the run to the finals. He seems like he is an honest player with a good head on his shoulders and the players will support him as long as he gives 100% this year.

Normally I would too, but when a guy plays after a long Lay off. I like seeing them play 2 games to see how they go second start.

I can confirm that the dogs were not aware of Jongs visit to te pies but they were aware of his discussions with the bombers and Suns.

They will not budge on the rolling one year and after the Collingwood trip he has left the dogs with no option other than to pull that offer and wait until the end of year.

Priority is now signing Koby.

It will be very interesting to see if Jong plays this week, if he doesn't I think he is cooked at the dogs.

Yeah Koby is pretty crucial. May be able to offer him more now that doesn't look like Jong will stay at the dogs.

Of course we didn't - to believe posters who like saying "their sources" is to believe in people trying to big note themselves.

A few people slagged me off for starting this post but it's clear the matter divided opinions.

Again to answer the poll I don't think anything should be done... BUT I believe bevo will drop him - a lot of people would say failure to do so would send a signal to other in contracted players they can be tourists too!

Discussions, visiting the facility and meeting the coach are different things.

Koby doesn't want more money he wants another year added so Jongs contract would have zero bearing on Kobys

Interesting if the information is correct how Jong's attitude and Big Red's attitude is towards rolling one year contracts.

I'm not passing judgement just highlighting the contrast between the two. Big Red did have other clubs knocking on his door.

Na different story.

Redpath wants to stay at the dogs, however he also only wants 1 year contracts. It's his method of improving and doing better each season

Dunno if he will be picked this week or not, but which ever way the club goes Barrett will slant it to suit his agenda against our club. I look forward to his 'Sliding Doors' this week.....f*ckwit

I am sure if Jack was offered a two year deal he wouldn't knock it back.

Seriously, who cares. No offence to Jong, but he's no Dangerfield. We lose him, so be it. No great loss. Move on. Story has been blown up way out of proportion.

Why is this becoming more of a story? Seriously, I'm struggling to understand.

He either accepts our offer, or we trade him to someone who gives him a better one. Case closed, no need for the angst.
