1. Whether Roos &Co and Club, maintain a win at all cost including playing the injured attitude?
As long as we are still a chance of making the finals, the status quo will remain intact. But if we fall by the wayside I wouldn't be surprised if a few mid-season retirements occur.
2. What efforts are made to Blood (ramp up) KPP replacements for Leo MOL and BBBH
Grundy up forward and White down back must be given a real opportunity. If they fail to make their mark so be it, but at least they have been given a shot.
3. Searching desperately to see a midfielder (middle starter) who steps up to "consistent game breaker" status to relieve the burden on Kirk and Goodes
I think our current club champion fits this category quite nicely. But for someone 'new' I would look towards Kieren Jack. He has pace, he has relatively good foot skills and has that mongrel about him.

let's break kennelly's legs and promote a rookie

that should stabilise the list numbers, and help blood some youth

Bold and insightful comments Grim.:thumbsu:

I would not have been so bold as to name specific players.

Truly McVeigh would have to take another HUGE bigger step again ( lets hope so) as without Kirk and Goodes I think he would not have that title/accolade ....and in truth I think Kirk was absolutely B&F last year!

Thanks for your as always well considered interest comments!:)

I'm sure that was tongue in cheek, but in all seriousness if Kenelly gets injured playing in that irish crap, could the Swans put him on the LTI list? Since he is a listed player i can't see why not?

pretty sure they can

gehrig got placed on the list for degenerative wrists (hardly footy associated)

but that "irish crap" :D is non-contact.... doubt we'll see a major injury from tadgh.... we've seen the guy pop his shoulder back in place about a dozen times last season; not exactly the type of guy who'll end up on the list anytime soon

Don't need contact to do a hammy! :thumbsu:

Anything better than mid ladder and I reckon we all ought be wrapped!?

I will be wrapped if we even make finals :)

I really hope we don't bottom out with the gold coast taking all the picks this year :thumbsd:

The Gold Coast don't have picks until the following year. They can pre-select local players at the end of this season but it is the 2010 draft that will be gutted.

Last year was the last draft before Gold coast started taking picks they made quite a deal about it.... That was the main reason there wern't many trades last year.

I don't think so... otherwise why was last year's draft given so much importance in terms of trades?

Because they can pre select a certain number of 17 year old draft eligable players Nation wide as well as the abilty pre select QLD and NT players, hence why so many clubs (including the Swans) took punts on Year 11 age players in the National Draft than normal. The kicker for the Gold Coast is that those players have to agree to join them and pass on the draft. Most will agree that they will be better off getting onto a AFL list as they would have a slim chance at best, but most of the predicted 1st and 2nd Round picks won't because they will have a better chance of staying close to home and will enter the draft.

As for the draft this year the Gold Coast aren't involved and therefore it isn't gutted picks wise. The year after however.....

Spot on guys.

The goald coast dont get to participate in the 2009 draft but they do get to sign 17 yo from qld if they can get them on board.

They dont get in the 2009 draft but they do get to pick the first 5 rookies in the 2009 rookie draft I understand.

The other reason why there was so much talk of this year's draft being "compromised" is that the AFL has now lifted the drafting age 3 months. From this year onwards, players have to turn 18 by 31 December in the year they are drafted, compared to by 31 March in the year after they were drafted as has been the case for the last couple of years (and it was later before then). None of the three draftees the Swans took would have been eligible in 2008 under this rule.

The size of the draft pool in 2009 will therefore be smaller, while in 2010 - when the Gold Coast get their bonanza - there will be an extra three months of players eligible for the first time.

:confused::confused::confused:

It will be the same/similar size as the 2008 draft and the last few drafts before it, however. It's not some super draft.

:o

Hmmm...had a bit of a brain fart. For some reason had in my mind that the following year would be 15 months' worth of players. Which is, of course, wrong...
