Hm, i like his mobility, his tap work and his tackling pressure but i dont rate his ability to go forward and kick goals consistently as of yet, though he may develop that part of his game at senior level soon(during u/18's kicked a ridiculous amount of goals) and i would happily give it a crack he hasn't shown much of a forward presence as of yet.I reckon it would not be bad to Recurit Matthew Kruzer. Be there Perfect 2nd Ruck who can Play Forward alongside Grundy

What would be very handy for our structure and Grundys development would be a ruckman who averages 1 goal a game and 15-20 hitouts over a season. Similar to a Darren Jolly 2010, David Hille for alot of his career, David Hale 2011-current, NicNat and Coxy 2012 and Brad Ottens for pretty much his entire career.
Someone like a Jon Giles could do this instantly and keep it up for the next 5+ years and would cost us about a second rounder. Or for a longer term prospect we could recruit Ben Griffiths who i personally think could keep a goal a game average and 10-20 hitout average while occasionally plugging holes all over the ground with his versitility(think of a 200cm, 2010-2011 Leigh Brown), he would have about 8-10 years in him as hes a young player. These 2 would cost much less and i think would give similiar output unless Kruezer unleashes his potential. Kruezer would cost our first rounder plus a player depending on what pick we have.

200cm-203cm would be fine, im not really a fan of taller than that as most of the 204cm+ players in the league lack mobility and ability to go forward and kick goals. If we pick up a ruckman, I want a guy guy that can handle the number one ruck spot and is around 202cm-206cm. I want Grundy to learn the ability to play forward. I'm am sick of watching Grundy in the ruck he always gets less hitouts than his opponents.

He got more Hitouts on the Weekend. 30-23 against Pyke
But Pike was in the ruck as much as Grundy was. Derickx won 20 hitouts. Thats 43 against 37.

Most ruckman at Grundys age average about 10 hitouts a game so i would think us Collingwood supporters should be happy he averages about 22-24 a game, if not you should really settle yourself because youre expecting far to much. Most of his ruck duels he only loses by about 3-6 hitouts max, when vsing a ruck duo its a different story.
Well then it took 2 of them Swans Ruck to beat a 10 Gamer
Didn't on the weekend...
Personally I'm sick of people not having patience with young players.
Grundy lost to the duo Pyke and Derickx. I do have patience and I'm not expecting Grundy to continually beat his opponents. That is why I want another ruckman while we wait for Grundy to grow as a player. Also I would like Grundy to learn how to play forward as well.
I don't think Grundy lost to Pyke and Derickx. Overall I'd say Grundy /and/ White lost to Pyke and Derickx, but no single Ruck (or in White's case partial Ruck) had a large influence on the game. I'd say a very high percentage of clearances were from sharked contests, and none of the Ruck's had any sort of influence around the ground. Really I'd say all four played either average or poor games.
It's a bit unfair to say Grundy always loses in hitouts to his opponent, because it's not true. Even if it was, the actual statistic of hitouts is the most meaningless in the entire game, only hitouts to advantage have any sort of impact.
[/QUOTE]Witts is the biggest gamble in our side atm imo. He has the tools to be anything but not sure he will do anything.[quote"Jonno94, post: 32328924, member: 145919"]Witts will be ahead of Kreuzer in 2 years time, maybe less.
I am completely on the fence with Witts but excited and apprehensive at the same time, if that makes sense.
It doesn't matter what angle you look at it. Without another ruckman were are always going to lose the hitout count.
Then we have to Play Hudson or Witts then.
Hitouts to Advantage and Clearance count more
We still need to get as many games into him as possible though. Playing AFL is the best preparation for playing AFL! I for one hope he plays a lot this year in tandem with Grundy. I think with where we are at getting games into guys is more important than winning this year.
Definitely. Doubt he will be delisted though..Would you sign Jack Watts as a De-Listed Free Agent?
