Some of the reactions in this thread are amusing. We had picks 45, 59, and 60 -we aren't picking up big name draftees with those.

For those still listening to SEN, have they interviewed West Coast yet? I left the room.

Doesn't mean we have to punish ourselves with picking Hutchings. ;)

Stoked with Carter by the sounds of things. Other two are interesting, but I at least have faith that Colledge will prove a good get.

Maybe McInnes will be made into the CHB and Colledge is the incumbent CHF?

I agree that Hutchings was a dumb pick, but what's the deal with all the moaning?

From what I've heard Colledge and Carter seem like decent and fairly standard picks.

Priddis never ran a 2.83 20m.

Yeah I know, but you would imagine he's been drafted because he's a backup ball winning mid. Obviously there probably isn't a place in the team unless priddis, selwood or maybe kerr goes down, unless he trains the house down, but he looks ready made to step in to the team when needed.

Ready made back up.

What you would use a rookie pick for.
Depends though. We wouldn't have a Swift or Stevens to throw into the side for one or two games if one of our midfielders miss just the odd game. We can't use a rookie for the odd game here and there, as you know, only if there's a long term injury.

Swift, Stevens, Neates and Strijk all filled in for games when we were missing players in 2012, yet none of them will be available to us next year. Putting a ready made replacement on the rookie list wouldn't fix that.

We'd be left with Dalziell as our only other ready made midfielder back-up (assuming Shaz Well is in the 22 already, and Cripps/Sheppard aren't what you'd call 'ready-made' inside mid material).

Hutchings i believe has really improved in the last 2 years, I think he was runner up to kane mitchell for the Sandover medal this year aswell. plus he is only 21.

Thought we did very well with what we had.
Colledge may be steal surprise.
Carter was one of my original picks.
I seem to remember last year that WCE were looking at Hutchings. B & F at West Perth and runner up in Sandover.Had a good year and this draft did't have a lot of midfielders.

Happy with that. Colledge could well be what those Vics end up calling a typical WCE under the radar pick. Carter is tough, hard, clean and smart. Hutchings is ready made and works hard, interesting to see how he turns out. I wouldnt right him off so quickly.
