To be fair, I was on the Freo board before and after we got Drum, and very few people were calling Drum a spud. They had a crack at him for his attitude (apparently he whinged a lot and didn't work hard in the WAFL once Harvey put him on the outer) but most admitted he had some sort of talent.

Peake on the other hand, they thought was a spud, and were laughing. And I have to agree. Peake is the closest thing to Tenace that I've seen since Tenace. Can run, but can't kick...should've been a sprinter...wrong career Peake is in.

Have been following his career with a bit of interest, but you've got to feel for him coming off this sort of injury. I've got the feeling that the opposition will give his retina a good work over when he returns, reflecting sunlight off watches, mirrors etc. He's got it all ahead of him, good luck to the man :thumbsu:

Balme was talking about him this morning on SEN. Said that he was almost forgotten about last year due to his spectacular run of bad luck (irregular heart rythym -> detached retina -> achilles) combined with the fact that just got on with rehab without whining. Also said that is now all behind him and there is no reason why he shouldn't be able to have a big preseason.

Geez, it really has been a horrible year for the kid. Glad to hear his attitude has remained good. Hope he can have a good year this year.

Yea... well with Juddy it will probably get a good work out, hey matey!!!

Amazing a Carlton supporter would suggest an opposition team would give a retina " a good workout".

Culture :thumbsu:

Haha, not bad. Wasn't intended as a troll at all, you can't help but take notice when a guy is on the injury list with a detached retina. Genuinely hope he can break into the side next year. (Side note, it's a little funny that both of Juddy's eye gouge victims are at the GC now...)

Just had a Barry Crocker with injuries... the Retina and the achilles....

He's got good size and skills but remains to be seen how he translates. Could be a real find if he can replace the player Harl's was ( tall backman not the captain..lol)

With a full preseason he should be able to make it stick..

Never really saw him play in Freo but word is he was unmotivated but had the skills....

3 months will tell i guess....

Go Catters

Could be a player that could step up next season seeing as he has done pre-seasons before and has some experience at AFL level.

We need some good news at the Cattery - so I hope he is one of the good news stories for us coming up soon.

Probably the reason they let Laidler go. With Mackie, Drum. Gillies and T Hunt in particular to be added to the PF line up, Laidler may have been viewed as 4th or 5th in line.

Drum is a great pick up for us if he can stay fit. Top 10 draft picks usually....usually...have what it takes. My bet is that Drum, T Hunt and Mackie were seen to be in front of Laidler....hence off to Carlton with him.

My hunch is that Drum will play a fair bit of senior footy in 2011.

And T Hunt will be a fixture!

I'm not sure we "let" Laidler go (i.e. we wanted to keep him). In any case I think Marcus can fill the role Laidler would have. However I still think it's fairly Milburn dependent, as if he goes on, and the new coach isn't prepared to drop him at times, neither Drum nor Taylor Hunt will see much senior footy :(. But if Milburn hangs them up, I'd expect Drum to play a fair bit of senior footy in 2011. He looked good in the practice games this year before he got injured, so let's hope he can stay out of the medical room and progress.
