I've said it before.......................i'll say it again

Bolton is not a key position back or forward!

His best position is on the wing.

I just cant comprehend why he keeps getting 'big jobs' each week.

Wether it is Pavlich / Reiwolt / Graham et al......................he is just not up to it.

People will say he's done ok this year & that may be true but i really disagree. i reckon he's definitely in the negative after the Cats game.

I would have to agree with you BomberGal. Go hassle Fletch who had a shocker or even Wellman who kept making basic football errors but IMO Bolton did a reasonable job on Benny.

bolton has been good this year used to hate him think he was a hack but he has been going good needs to play on a bakc falnk or wing him nad mcphee shoudl alternate them tow postions or tkae both as need one or both down back for theirlong accuarate kicking out of defense which has been a reason for our success

sheedy should try a another key position backman or forward such as laycock, hunt or bradley as then it would give us an opportunity to play lucas down back if needed or bradley if fletch and the likes are getting cained

dont tinker tow mcuh tohguh as only one game and we have bben playing good footy werent to bad last night some good signs

The problem with Bolton is Sheedy persists with playing him out of position and trying to use him as a stop-gap measure in areas where we are deficient and have been deficient for some time. Playing him in the ruck or CHF or CHB. He's none of those things and never will be.

Frankly, I don't expect him to star simply because he's being given roles that aren't natural to him.

Wellman and Fletcher deserve more blame for last night than Bolton does. They'd have to be in just about the worst form of their careers.

Think you are way off the money Vanda. Bolton's game last night was servicable if not brilliant. I agree he is not a KPP but more of a link man in the Wellman role. Sheed's has done no favours to Bolt's by continually using him as a stop gap player., but he is starting to string some good honest games together and as his confidence grows he will continue to improve

Blaming bolton for Saturday night is absolutely stupid. Wellman couldn't pick up the ball and his disposal was terrible, Fletcher had brain melt-downs at kick ins - wtf with kicking to Mark Johnson against talls????????????

Ramma is out of form and so is Welsh. McVeigh was fine, and Bolton was fine and thats about it down back.

Fletcher has no confidence anymore to back himself, and Wellman is almost outta here if he doesn't return to his normal self. If Hunt is playing well I would seriously consider bringin him in.

You made a mistake bringing up Pavlich. Bolton beat him last time he played on him.

He seems to do his best on that kind of running tall player (Pavlich, Goodes) who isn't used to having someone of their own height keep running with them for the whole game.

But he does have limitations as a key defender, can only do it against certain opponents. And as a forward he doesn't do much damage.

As much as he has improved, I still have concerns about him.

If the linkman role is what he's best at, do we have others who can fill that role better?

He's been reasonably consistent this year, but he's also a key part of a defensive unit that is ranked 14th in the league. Of course the heat is on our entire defensive group at the moment.

As to his game on the weekend. He did okay in the linkman role yes, but was probably beaten as a key defender.

Isn't the linkman role supposed to be in addition to the normal role of beating your man at CHB? Because like it or not, that's where he's going to be played because we have better options for a wing role.

i would much rather see Mcphee holding down that key defensive post on a player like Graham than have Bolton there.

Similarly i would expect Bolton to pickup Pavlich this week..........................Pavlich is well overdue so it will be interesting to see how he goes

Am just not convinced that he has that ability to hold the 'gun' players.

i would rather see him play the linkman role that Mcphee has played at different times this year.

Stick him on the wing & let him run back & forward all game..................if thats wot his natural strength is, his running, then let him run!

You want 187cm tall McPhee on 196cm tall Graham. I believe McEnroe said it best: 'You cannot be serious'.

Bolton has been very good this year playing mostly in the same position and not being relied on to get possession of the ball. McPhee is way better than Bolton which is why he should be on the wing. That way he can contribute to the forward and backline.

Bolton plays well of the tall mobiles because he is tall enough to challange in a marking contest and they have no chance in hell of running off him.

Get some tapes of this year and watch his second and third efforts and runs out of the backline. he has been among our best on every occasion ive seen (only been 3 times this year) and when ive watched he has never been bad.

Keep it up Bolts i still love ya :p

Some people will know what I am about to say, but, it needs to be said.

Just how many goals were kicked on Bolts on Saturday? I counted 2..1 from the on fire bloke in Kingsley (that was after Fletch and Welly got belted by said forward) and the 1 by Graham, caused by McVeigh's brain fade in conceding 50..there was some doubt as to Graham kicking it from 40.

Was clearly our best defender and still had to spend 5 minutes off from the blood rule after getting whacked in the back of the head.

Is destined for a top 10 BnF finish on consistency.

Mark McVeigh ?????

Towelled up Ablett and had him dragged ........ also got a bit more of it than Bolts ...

Reckon McPhee is better playing off half back. His running is supreme and delivery is usually pretty good. Has played well there

Also the reason Rama is down on form probably as he is out of position. He is no backman. He is an awesome wingman and made his name there in his early days. Should be left there.

Bolton has been pretty good this year except for his first couple of games. Other than that been good. Remember he played pretty well on Goodes in Round 6.
