They kept him on the list longer than they needed to out of respect.
And he wasn't a walk up start as an assistant coach. The Cats gave him that role to financially support him. And they didn't have to do that.

Fair enough. Good clubs look after their good people and vice versa.

Didn't he start with the VFL club then move up to seniors? Or was that someone else.

I understand your annoyance but I also take it as a massive compliment to the Geelong Footy club that guys who have come through are being headhunted.

Must mean the place is doing something right (although I guess the 3 Cups in 5 years tells us that )

+ so Geelong Cats providing all of the AFL with coaches continues! (there is no Smiley appropriate for what I think about that)

Egan has been at Essendon a long time now + I hope he is appointed Coach because it'd be terrific for him!

It's hard seeing Essendon steal your personnel, I have massive respect for Geelong.
Could you guys tell me a bit about Egan as a coach? I remember that horrible Navicular injury ruining his career, James Hird had the same thing but he was luckier.

Well that's a cruel twist of fate Egan was much loved at Geelong. I met him at the 2011GF, had a photo with him + Heppel
