AntSo you really think your opinion is how Lloyd is thinking ?
For a start how has Knights treeted him poorly ? FFS they want him to play on and have said dozens of times it is totaly Lloyds decision.
The problem is you morons belive everything you read in the paper![]()
The other element that comes into this is that it must also be the right decision for the club. Essendon Football Club has been my second home for almost half my life and I owe it to the club to make the right call as well. Occasionally, players are of the view that the club owes them something, but that has never been my view. The club has given me more than I will ever give it and it is only right that it comes into my considerations.

from what I read I believe the issue is Llyod want to only play FF however the club wants him to play more up the field so the club can develop some of your young stars in the key positions and for Matty to play a mentoring role.
I think this is a very sensible and responsible approach from your club, both Hurley and Gumble's have massive potential and need the scope and opportunity to develop
I just find Matty's position a bit surprising and maybe bordering on selfish, someone once told me thatthere is no "I" in Team
Bloody Beauty. Great post lets all get off our arses and put some pressure on the smiling assassin, and wish him GoodKnight.
good to see lloyd set the record straight in the age. perhaps if f###wits like hutchy took the time to get their facts right people would not be mislead...
people are forgetting on the night of the final against adelaide, lloyd's wife went into labour and had their second child. most people with families would understand the first two weeks of a new born's life are quite busy for a parent.
do people expect m.lloyd to put aside his family duties to focus solely on a decision that he could make a week or two later with no impact on either player or club.
Lloyd has struggled with continuall niggling injuries over the past two years and right now i think the decision is him weighing up working in the media and making more $ as well as being able to spend more time with his young family versus his desire to keep playing but making less money , spending more time away from his kids and comitting to the training grind of another season.
It would be a bloody tough decision to make.
Ant
you know things I don't and you know things I shouldn't know regardless of the discussion you had with that poster.
It doesn't mean that the club/knights really has handled this issue well.
I would argue knights has shown gross media immaturity and very poor list management skills in the process.
Knighter backed himself into a corner re that comment he would let ML decide his own future along with Scotty and Fletch et al. Admirable at the time, but he should have been nuanced it when this crazy media storm developed. Too much at stake.
It has had an affect on the club and Lloyd. No doubt about that.
Knights/the club surely anticipated something moving re Lloyd mid season or sometime thereafter. If it is the process at the club that is at fault it matters little now.
The situation was poorly gauged by by knights and he will carry that can in supporters eyes regardless of any peer pressure you leverage or insults you throw at posters/supporters.
Knights will find it very difficult to recoverthis ground regardless of ML's motives
I. Sadly our media has gone down the same course the British tabloids.
It's a pity we don't have the Page 3 girls though.![]()
"There have been suggestions I only want to play at full-forward. Rubbish. There have been suggestions I want a guarantee I won't play for Bendigo. Absolute rubbish. In essence, the whole process boils down to whether I am mentally and physically prepared for another season of AFL football."
not being a prolific poster or reader on bigfooty, should i be concerned at the report in Bay13 that lloyd will announce his retirement tomorrow? or is the entire idea of bay13 to simply stir trouble and make things up?
He wasn't there. I assume it was because of a combination of having a newborn at home, not wanting to be hounded about his contract decision for the millionth time and his house being broken into on Sunday.Did anyone see Lloyd at the Brownlow last night? I for one, did not.
