Quick question: What/when was the game Scarlett and Robert Harvey had words?

Was trying to figure it out yesterday, but couldnt.
That was the 08 QF. Only remember because it was the last final I went to.

Anyone else think That that interview was really quick with question and answer. Either was edited a bit, scarlo knew what questions were coming or scarlo was being very very honest. I think prolly a bit of the second and a lot of the third.

What a great interview. Loved the bit about the Brownlow; " who you gonna celebrate that with? Yourself? "

Hahaha love it. What a champion
It summed his up to a tee.
"The whole idea of playing is to win Premierships and celebrating with your mates, I don't put too much stock in individual awards"

Yeah it was good to see how confident he was about our chances for the flag... And Lulz at his early footage, looks like his jumper was about 3 sizes too big for him

Didn't see his debut game in 1998 - was overseas. Did see his 2nd game in 1999, again against Essendon - and was utterly convinced he would never make it as Lloyd murdered him early. Second half he started outmarking him.

I'm a good judge. :(

I was at his first game, and have seen since on DVD. I think Scarlo's first touch that day was when he tucked the ball under his arm before running forward and setting up a score down the other end. Little did we know at the time he'd do that hundreds of times over his career.

like a skinny littler runt I can't believe he developed into tone of the best ever !

Boy did he look like a 12 year wearing his big brothers jumper in the footage of him playing against Lloyd. Its hard to believe that he would become one of our top four players of all time looking at that footage.

Scarlett has always been an enigma, he is different. When picked father and son it was Marc Woolnough who was the more regarded player and sadly a crippling injury denied him the chance to become a star. Scarlett took at least 3 seasons to get going and when he did he took charge of that backline. I'd go as far to say that he took charge of that team! His honesty about 2006 and his defence of Bomber showed character in his belief that it was the players fault and not the coach at the time of the team's slide down the ladder that year. The review obviously took into account what Scarlett and the players had to say about it. They knew their faults better than anyone and were man enough to recognise it and do something about it, a change of coach wasn't the answer, it was player attitude and culture that had to change. (see Johnson suspension) Football boards are not usually that flexible and Brian Cook to his credit stuck his neck out and stayed with Thompson. Let's not forget if Geelong had failed miserably again in 2007 then Cook most likely would've got the chop. It all fell into place except for 2008 which is still the most disappointing Geelong season of all time. Their character and resolve got them across the line again in 2009 and despite the turmoil of 2010 losing their best player and coach they did it again in 2011! It's blokes like Matthew Scarlett who got them there and he played for the team and had complete confidence in the team. What a remarkable footballer he was. That was a great interview.
