As awesome as Parkway Drive would be, such a thing would not happen unfortunately xD. I saw Def Leppard last night at Rod Laver last night and they were awesome, would be really cool to see them perform on Grand Final day... Hell even Heart was great :p

One of the best singers to ever take the stage ...but i guess a kid wouldn't know this .

come on, man! seriously? not even close... sam cooke, jeff buckley, aretha franklin, ray charles, stevie wonder, ella fitzgerald, james brown, michael jackson, john lennon to name just a few popular singers who run rings around meat loaf. the guy is a competent rock singer, but that is it...

and that is not even touching on the sopranos, tenors etc who have been kicking around since before mozart was writing the magic flute, which takes real singing ability to pull off.

meat loaf is not one of the finest singers to take the stage.

EDIT: im a kid, and i know this...

Yes, they'd be popular and entertaining. 75% of the people at the ground wouldn't even know what they are saying/screaming, or even be aware who they are.

If local bands were to be used, it needs to be someone everybody would know. Get Midnight Oil back, or Chisel.

^^This, bands that the vast majority of people have never heard of is just as bad as Meatloaf embarrassing himself (albeit cheaper).

The problem with Chisel and Midnight Oil is that you can't keep re-hashing the same acts over and over. Bringing in big international acts with wider appeal isn't the problem, it's just that this year in particular the AFL ****ed it up big time and picked the wrong act. It's funny since last year they nailed it twice (once with just a weeks notice).

Did the people mentioning Cold Chisel not hear Jimmy Barnes' performance in the grand final a few years back? Was almost as bad as the loaf's.

Are you tone deaf? Barnes wasn't brilliant but the note he hit in the first few seconds of that video was better than anything Meatloaf attempted to dribble out.

Seriously, no contest.

I am not tone deaf, and if you listen a little further than the first second you will hear what I'm talking about.

Meatloaf was far worse, but Barnes has had his day as well.

I never said it was good, I don't rate Barnes and never have, but it's not "almost" as bad as Meatloaf's effort. Not even close.

Hunters and Collectors. Close with Holy Grail.

Barnes is finished IMO too....his voice has been strained past repair, and is just woeful these days....same with Braithwaite, he was terrible yesterday at the races..

So you're arguing semantics then.

Jimmy Barnes is not a good option, that was my point.

It was as if Trey Parker slipped into a fat suit.

Harsh on Trey Parker. Trey Parker performing songs from South Park and Team America would've sounded better than that.

Would be better than whoever suggested Parkway Drive too :o

Eh, I'd rate Meat Loaf as a better singer than a few of those. Listen to something like "For Crying Out Loud", for instance; he had an exceptional talent in his day.

Still, it's all about personal taste really. I don't think all but his most ardent fans would dispute that his voice is shot now, and has been for a while.
