Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

You got that right :p

Well yes, but only becuase our KP backs are hard to judge. Some say Pears is more a 2nd/3rd tall, some say he will play FB, same with Hooker, etc. I am waring off Hurley after his slowish draft times.

Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

Someone's got to explain to me how this guys "Set in Stone" top 8 are able to differ from his latest attempt at a mock draft.

I may be missing something here, but, er, doesn't set in stone mean, well, they they can't change?

Lol agreed.
May I just say that my top 8 wont change because I think that is what will happen..
Maybe top 9.. but Adelaide im not sure about. Hopefully they go Trengove > Johnston if we go tall. I want Swift very bad though.

Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

good work.
more than happy with what richmond is getting.

very keen on having hartlett with first round. Would love if he fell to us.

was keen to pick up a kpp forward with our 2nd rounder and i can accept cornelius tho would prefer someone who's bit more of a monster forward to complement our other forwards who are a bit shorter.

I think Hartlett will go top 5 unfortunatly.
Although.. be happy with Ziebell.
Rockliff is pretty good.. happy with him 2nd round?

Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

about 7th but I have put Reasons for why I put the Player where and It was not just a Simple Put Together like a Few of the Others.

Want Proper Comments Please

Well start by giving proper reasoning for draft picks. Drafting talls isn't really a well thought out explanation.

Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

Round 1

Pick 9 – North: Steele Sidebottom - Midfielder - 182cm, 79kg - Murray Bushrangers, Vic
Pick 27 – North: Nick Heyne - Medium Forward - 187cm, 79kg - Gippsland Power, Vic
Pick 43 – North: Tom Hill - KP Forward - 198cm, 79kg - Northern Knights, Vic

Very happy with that, however we probably don't need another KP forward atm with Hale, Petrie, Jo.Smith, Tarrant and Wundke coming through, so I'd probably want a key position defender like Post or Milne, or even another midfielder like Allwright.

Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

I think he'd be the player they might need but does he fit the Derek Hine mould? I wouldn't have thoughts so.
Could you go into that Deeper because I thought he was the Type of KP he likes in that he is very Verstile can play Back and Forward

That's a fair point, what i've seemed to noticed and people have pointed out to me is Hine does have a method when it comes to the draft, it seems to be these categories:

Ex-Basketballer
Bottom-Aged
Versatile
Victorian
X-Factor
Pace
Project-type/Risk-type

When you look at Lisle, he has two of those, he fills a hole in the Pies side though so it's possible that he's willing to look overlook a few of those factors this year.

yeah.....if not hartlett, i would definitely welcome ziebell at richmond.

as for rockliff, i know that he's pretty good but i think from a list management point of view, we'd go for a tall forward with our 2nd round as we have some pretty good medium forwards in nathan brown and mitch morton already.
any idea which tall forward will likely to be there at pick 26??

Well I see that his got from that:
Versatile
Victorian
Pace

Those have heard that they had Serious talks with him is making me think that he is of the Top Contenders to be Picked 11.

What prospect fits all them that could go at 11 then? Just Curious?

Re: Top 10 Pick Mock With Explanation

right you are . i agree with what youre saying and they should be interested in watts. i still reckon that a good local will take preference over a good victorian.

I agree with you on that point Juddernaut, but only if they are ranked equal. If the local is good but the Victorian is super good we'd take the Vic kid every day of the week.

IMO the Judd factor is over-rated because we've retained McKinley, Schofield, Houlihan, Spangher, couldn't get rid of Hansen :D and have only had a few return home after a short stint with the club.

I wouldn't really put Lisle in the pace category but i wouldn't say he was slow either.

Obviously there isn't a player that fits all of them but Sam Blease, Nick Heyne, Jackson Trengove and Steele Sidebottom seem to be fairly close.

Re: Top 10 Pick Mock With Explanation

I would not be relying on Walker, Sellar and Tippett to be your KF in the future, big mistake. I'll be very surprised if the Crows don't pick a KF with either of their first two picks.
but how many big forwards do u think we will have to pick before u think we can rely on them?

True.
If I do another one (which I highly doubt I wont) i'll keep that in mind :)

I do like Hartlett more then Ziebell too, I dont know if the reason is if he is SA or not... :p
But I do love Ziebell.. you should be happy for him.
With Rockliff, he can be a main target up forward but will be more like a Jason Porplyzia who isnt a KP but gets a lot of the ball and can kick goals.
Paul Cahill will be available you would think and then theres Tom Hill for a 3rd rounder who is nearly 200cm tall.

Re: Post Trade Period Mock Draft with Explanations

Good effort Dave the Man

my criticisms are:

- i think Yarran will go earlier. Collingwood will take him over key position. they have tons of talls and need midfield pace and quality.
- i can't see Essendon passing over Hurley. Going forward they have Ryder and then Pears as there tall defenders. Hooker is tall and can play back but speculative. Pears is in the 190 bracket and more of a third tall, running back i think. They have plenty of mids and just recruited Prismal to add more depth. Key position will be their priority i would think.
-McKernan to Geelong - not sure about that. Their ruck stocks are fine and their forward line looks ok with Hawkins in the wings. Still you could be right. Why not - he may end up being a super player - all the attributes.
- Not sure Rucks are a priority for melbourne - Johnson, Meesen, Jamar - nothing to write home about but looks like forwards and mids more of a priority. Would expect Melbourne to take Watts and Cornelius and give themselves a full forward/chf combo to last a decade before considering adding a ruck.
- plenty of guys to go infront of Pearce - never heard of him and i watch far too much youtube of the under 18's.
-Bulldogs will not just draft talls - think it will be hard to go past zaharakis if he is still available at 31/32. And if Broadbent or OKeefe is still available i think they may bight. Strong bodied mids with good footskills wont go astray at the dogs.

That's about it for me.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

It's just pure blind optimism by Carlton supporters that Hurley is going to slip all the way through to Number 6.

He will almost certainly become a Bomber, if not will go to the Power.
Its now the day where I have become alot more intellegent.
I am almost sure that Hurley will go to pick 6 :p but no lower.
