Because I think he is just shit stirring and the fained interest is not born out of a genuine concern for our Club rather I see it as mud raking.

Plus I am still pretty narky after the flaccid , insipid performance we witnessed last Sunday, so my reaction was not that tolerant , of those outsiders wanting to rub salt into a wound.

Also in a very grumpy mood because I find myself looking at the same midfield problem that has been evident for six ******* years now and the powers to be seem incapable of fixing.
I share the grumpy mood and the reason behind it but FFS there's nothing wrong with another teams people asking the question

I was referring to the last 3 years not back to 2011. Going back that far you get the influence of the new teams with their armchair ride and also the fact that we tried to recruit some pace into the side for the midfield and that skews it a bit. As we had very few reasonable picks it is no surprise we bombed out a bit earlier than most. I had a cursory look at the figures as well but it seemed to me that there were surprisingly few player in that time to play a lot of games.
Well how many games would you expect players who've been drafted in the last 3 drafts to have played?
There's 37 players from the 2014 national draft who've played 15 or more games, 10 players from the 2014 rookie draft have played 15 or more.
24 from the 2015 have played 10 games or more, 10 from the rookie draft in 2015 have played 10 games or more.
21 from the 2016 draft have debuted already and 6 new players from rookie draft have debuted.
Seems like plenty from the the last 3 drafts have played and they're not all reasonable picks.

Agreed. In any case I personally don't mind being hammered by anyone at this point and I hope the club is really feeling the heat as it needs to make some serious changes. I'm more deverstated by this loss than any other in memory simply due to he whole situation. How can we get through to the club and let them know that the members and supporters have had enough?

Whats happened with Tom Lamb? Seemed like he had a bit of an attitude after reading the 'Draftees' book but certainly had a lot of talent.
Looked really positive early on in his first year with you guys as well, just wondered where you thought he was at?

Barely makes the grade in the WAFL most of the time

From reading that book it seems as though he's got a real attitude problem, just a shame he hasn't been able to grow out of it in the past couple of years. Do you think he might get another year?

He got a one year contract at the end of last year after no club wanted him during trade period. Unless theirs a dramatic improvement in attitude and output or he does enough to be selected in the 22 and proves he's better player in a better team and belongs at AFL level, he won't. It'll be job search and local footy for him.

Apparently has a poor attitude and from what I've seen of him in the WAFL he seems to drop his head quickly if things don't go his way leading to him not working hard enough during games. Which is funny because our recruiting manager said that he liked Lamb's work ethic after we'd taken him in the draft.
Can't see him getting another year unless something amazing happens before the end of the year. You never know though, the way our injuries are going he could end up getting a game in the AFL and from there anything can happen.

I share a similar sentiment mate. They need to know how we all feel, and that we are not happy with the way things are being done. Without the supporters the club have nothing, so they really should give a s**t what we think.

I'm a 49ers fan too, and I know in the past 2 seasons the fan base became completely disillusioned with some of the decisions made by the owner (Jed York). It got to the point where our General Manager at the time (Trent Baalke) continued to make boneheaded decisions with drafting, trading and free agency, and our player development was so poor that we went from a Super Bowl contender to a cellar dweller within 3 years.

The fans ended up running a GoFundMe to pay for a plane to fly over the stadium on game day with an aerial banner saying "FIRE GM TRENT BAALKE". They had done one the previous season telling the owner to sell the club, which he didn't, but the GM did get fired at the end of the season.

I'm not saying that doing that will necessarily will be a solution to all of our problems, but thinking of a way that we can clearly communicate a message to the decision makers of the club might be worthwhile! The only question is - what would be the message?

As others have said, unless he sets the world on fire for the rest of the season or finds himself a suitor over east by the end of the year, he will see himself delisted imo.

Lamb looked good early on because he played with confidence and being a relatively one touch player he looked good in a good team.

Personally I've never seen it with him - a good leap and tank doesn't make up for average skills and an underwhelming contested and poor defensive game. Though to be fair to him it hasn't helped that he has been played as a key forward since he got drafted.

Footy is the same as politics. Politicians make decisions in the best interests of their careers, not in the best interests of their constituents. Likewise footy, coaches make decisions in the best interests of their careers.

What I'm getting at is that Simpson will not blood the kids and turn the list over until such time as he needs an excuse for being bottom of the ladder. Can you imagine him doing as suggested in this thread and having the WCE finishing bottom 4? Because that's what would happen if we replaced Priddis, Darling, Gaff, Redden, LeCras, Hill, Wellingham, etc with Venables, Watson, Karpany, Lamb, etc etc. And it would cost Simpson his career.

Short of doing what the Bulldogs did, that is playing the 4 best games of the season all in September, we will not win a flag with this group of players. It's a depressing realisation.

Why is it that so many of us realised this at the start of 2016?? Do the Eagles exist only in La La land?

I think some of the Eagles coaching staff need to take a step back and can the love affair with the players.I think sometimes you get so caught up in the everyday happenings; the euphoria of winning; the downs of a flogging; that you become part of the problem. They think " dont worry Jetta will come good soon dont worry" or " Masten gets good figures ;hes our best runner" or "Darling is a great athlete he works so hard to make space for Kennedy;people would kill to have him in their side".These people should just sit down and watch a game live on TV where they can see in close what a player is or isnt doing and without the hindsight of having already seen the action.First impressions are usually the best.Ya just gotta love Hurn on the news saying " we have reviewed the game and moved on".Is that Eaglespeak for dont worry a big home win is coming up and you will forget all about it??Too many of these players are scarred and we need a clean out.As Daddy 4 said its depressing realising we wont win a premiership with this side.I wonder how long it will be before the eagles hierachy realise it??

I watched the Steve Gleason documentary after the game and let me tell you the loss looked very insignificant after that.

And I was a kick the dog, tv breaker

(just kidding I would never kick Moocho)

now I think im cured next bad loss give it a go.
Why did you name your tv?

Look I melted hard the last few days but let's see if can salvage the rest of the season but still blood kids in but if the season doesn't pan out then look at a mini list clean up. Move on senior guy like Masten, redden, Jetta, Priddis, hill, lecras, Butler, Petrie, Mitchell and maybe even a wellinghan through trade, retirement/delistings. Then look to bring some young talent home or even young talent not getting games for their clubs. Also bank up on draft picks.

Next year we would have to except that we are a bottom 8 side and really preserve with the likes of Duggan, sheed, Nelson, mutimer and Venables.

Also make Shuey captain.

His work ethic away from game day is very good, that's what is so infuriating about him. He just gives up once something goes against him during the game like an umpiring decision or a poor inside 50 pass.

I've been one of his biggest critics on here, mainly due to the way he was molly coddled but I still would've taken the risk with him as a second round pick. He was an all or nothing gamble that didn't come off. Wonder what would have happened if they treated him normally and dropped when he deserved it, might have changed his attitude.

The issue with our current list is you can make a case for almost all of them in isolation. We don't have many/any bad players in our best 22. Masten, whilst he has his limitations, in another team could be a very useful player. Priddis, a great extractor, if surrounded by more pace and class, what an asset. Gaff, wingman that keeps on running and racks up possessions like few others. They are all decent but our mix of midfielders in particular doesn't work. They are all relatively small (or more accurately, we have no beasts), most are on the slow side and even our quickest aren't truly explosive. None are overly physical like a Viney etc. It simply isn't balanced. Only Shuey is well-rounded and somewhat explosive. Similar issues surround our smaller forwards. It is like we recruit players without actually looking at the current make up of the list and finding some points of difference/seeing what we are lacking. That said, we have had a bit of bad luck on the recruiting front as well with Cavka and Waterman and did try to rectify the pace issue with Jetta.

I agree move on a few players but not all , there are some mature players that I beleive would mix in well with young guys because of their work ethic and ticker , so move on players that only play well when we're in front but not when the going gets tough, guys that don't put their body on the line I'd move Masten /Jetta/Hill to start with ,Butler /petrie to retire, maybe if we got three good quick midfielders or there abouts that can kick and not pull out of contests I think things would look better for guys like Priddis Mitchell Wellingham and maybe Petrie you need experience to teach the young guys as well .
West coast have always kept playing name players at the expense of young guys coming thru ,until a couple of years ago when there was injuries and guys like Gov and Shep were given a go and we ended up playing finals , but above all Simmo needs to be able to fire up the players ,something he is battling with at the moment ,when the whole team struggles at the MCG like we have its gotta be above the shoulders ,they gotta play for the jumper
