He has stepped up a bit over the last few weeks but I expected him to become an A grader this year.

I hope he plays more that offensive mid role over the next few months, he is so damaging as a goal kicking mid.

One of my favourites is Mitch. Beautiful kick, tough and runs all day. Would love to see him hitting the scoreboard more as we approach finals!

No he is not A grade.
He'll get there though. Of all the kids we have he is the one I'm most confident of replacing a champion and being their equal.

Reckon he will get to Coreys best level.

Agree with this but would add that I think he will effect the scoreboard more than Smithy. Such an awesome kick for goal.
Not the Smithy is a hack but he is not a noted goalkicker where as Mitch has seemed to kick more regularly.

Definitely. I think that is one area of his game that people completely ignore.
The majority of Duncans disposals come when he has already busted a gut. And he pretty much doesn't miss at pace.

It's a definite gift.
Did you watch the hawthorn game. I have never seen as many changers in a single game from a single player in my life as what Duncan put up that night.

You've hit the nail, apart from that little lack he's doing it very well, he must position himself defensive side of centre most of the time in that case.
It also might mean his delivery needs to improve, our forward delivery is poor imo, so it's got to be someone and he's a high possession winner.

While you prefer to remember the clangers I remember the don't argue and the epic pass to caddy.

Had my concerns about him first half of the year, he had looked for all money like he would become a top tier player for Geelong after 2012 and his first half of the year he'd arguably gone backwards.

But recently he has been working his way into some pretty good form and looks back on track and he'll certainly be a key player for the Cats moving forward.

He's one of those guys who you want the ball to be in his hands.

My thoughts exactly.

I also am more observant of his gut running now, and believe he could become elite if he improves his disposal 10%, or narrows the gap between his best kicks and worst kicks. A well rounded player.

Have the Geelong board Mitch Duncan lovers ever wondered why no one outside the club ranks him. No one does. Some don't think he is even in our best side. They are wrong, but their view does put into perspective Mitch Duncan's place in the football world and its a long way below where the consensus on this board thinks it is.

By everyone you mean BF clearly because if you asked any other club they would tell you the same.
But this is the same group of people who said Ablett was just a 1-2 handball stat fluffer, Selwood is just a ducker, Hawkins can't kick, Mooney was a crap player, Scarlett never played on a forward, Ottens was an ordinary ruckman and our club was just lucky to win a few flags due to "cheating" the father/son rule.

Official stats had him eleventh on the list for clangers by Geelong players.

Well if you want to be completely biased then your opinion is of no value

Here's your quote about Christensen before the Hawthorn game:
"Star. Far more talented than Duncan."
That looks a bit like bias to me. In fact, it looks like you have a bee in your bonnet about Duncan, seeing he was irrelevant to the thread and, before your irruption, unmentioned by anyone else.

Good player and most of the time is an exceptional ball user (especially when kicking at goal), but when he screw up a kick he seriously butchers it. Just needs to work a bit on his consistency. Also he is not hitting the scoreboard as much as he used to which is a bit concerning considering how good a kick he is at goal (especially from around 50), so I would like to see him playing a bit more forward of centre. Happy that his defensive pressure has improved considerably this year :). The other problem is he isn't sticking marks like he used (seems to get in a perfect position then can't hold it, whereas a year or two again he would usually stick them), but hopefully this resolves itself soon. Also he shouldn't get too ahead of himself; saying that he would be 2013's Dayne Beams was one of the stupidest comments I've heard out of a Geelong player.

Could you give us, say, three examples?

Anyone who thinks Duncan isn't one of the best kicks at the club has got rocks in their head. I think his problem there is that when he does make a clanger, it can sometimes snowball and he makes multiple bad kicks in a row (I think it was the Bulldogs game this year that was a classic example of this...he was kicking helicopters all night to the point where people figured that he must have had an injury). But those games are the exception. He clearly has all the tools to be as good a field kick as someone like Mundy; he just has to stop the habit of turning one skill error into 4-5.

He didn't say that, he said it was his aim to have a similar season, as suggested by Selwood:
''Pretty much my goal this year is to really have that breakout season - similar to Dayne Beams, probably not to that extent,'' Duncan said. ''He had an amazing season and it's hard to emulate that but just how he … really proved he's an elite player. Joel Selwood mentioned it pre-season - [he said] 'You have the talent, you work really hard and this is what you can do if you really put your mind to it'. That's what I've set out to do and obviously winning helps you play well, too.''

Was gunna post the same, he is misquoted a lot with that one.

The ones that matter. .Chris Scott and the match committee do!!
Try digesting some of these stats...
5th in total disposals
3rd in marks
4th in kicks
4th in handballs
6th in tackles at the club, pretty reasonable I would say.

And 9th for average Clangers.

David King (yeah I know) ranked his best Cat team a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't in the top 22. The Hutcho wannabe who tries to out our players at half time each week named Duncan around 18th best player in our side. A popular thread naming all the best players under 23 in the comp didn't have Duncan in the top 50 or so. A number of other Geelong kids were named including Blicavs. Yes Blicavs. No one in numerous pages even questioned why Duncan was missing.

These are the only three examples I can think of by the way. I can't think of one example where Duncan is ranked outside the club. Can anyone else?

Bigfooty thinks Blicavs is a better prospect then Duncan.

So David King, a 'Hutcho wannabe' (no idea who you are talking about) and a Big Footy thread. Anyone worth listening to?

As for Blicavs v Duncan, well I know which one I'll be backing in to play 200 games of AFL footy. That's nothing against Blicavs, but I don't think anyone truly knows where he'll be in five years. The overwhelming probability for Duncan, on the other hand, is that he'll be at Geelong, in the leadership group and closing in on 200 games. And he could well have some additional individual honours to his name (B&F/AA) as well. I mean, if any of these people had to put their lives on who has the better career from 2014-2018, between Duncan and Blicavs, would 5% pick Blicavs? Blicavs is a great story, the flavour of the month (well, maybe not so much at the moment). He could be a superstar, he could be a serviceable player, or he could be out of the league in two years. Duncan is a sure thing.
