Sorry. Been away for a few hours. Could have expected Bee's response. That's fine. I can see you feel very strongly about the issue. I apologise for bringing it up.

Asgardian, it looks like we're in the same boat. My sin was the greater. I had no idea Thiessen had retired, and I'm truly sorry to see it. What was he, 26? It's a waste. I thought he was a real talent. Brown was just a comment. BTW, thanks for the condescending remarks. Classy.

I made the comments while I was pressed for time. No excuse, I know, but I retract whatever was incorrect now. Everything else I stand by - especially the point that you don't know what the hell you're talking about re Chick or Graham. It's not just that you made a misjudgment. It's that you were SO wrong as to bag our best player of last year. Our best. Surely the view from Adelaide can't be that dim.

Um, no! This guy never stops, never stop working. A silent player, who goes without rewards yet puts in the hard yards.

DCFC,

I have the Port games on tape, and during this looooooong off-season, I have watched many of those games. My wife is a cows supporter, she has many of their games on tape, after enjoying the Port games, I'm forced to endure a cows game.

I stand by comment re - Chick being over-rated.

It could be useful to explain my definition of who could be over-rated, I look for someone who has the football skills in him, but just does not put it on the park when it matters, this doesn't mean they wont have great games, it means they wont have all the great games they should have.
What happens is a reporter will see one of those great games a player has, and then builds him up continuously because of that.

Chick has what it takes, but he hasn't shown it often enough IMO

Adelaide :- Brett Burton
Brisbane :- Chris Johnson
Carlton :- Michael Mansfield
Collingwood :- Anthony Rocca
Essendon :- Stephen Alessio
Fremantle :- Clive Waterhouse
Geelong :- Ronnie Burns
Hawthorn :- Daniel Chick
Kangaroos :- Corey McKernan
Melbourne :- David Schwarz
Port :- Che Cockatoo-Collins
Richmond :- Wayne Campbell
St Kilda :- Fraser Gehrig
Sydney :- Jason Ball
West Coast :- Ben Cousins
West Bulldogs :- Rohan Smith

Lets see how many arguments I've managed to start, lol

Sorry Chris, after agreeing with all on your list except Cousins, I would like to nominate Gehrig for West Coast (he hasn't played a game for the Saints yet, and don't hold your breath) and Loewe for St Kilda. I don't know how I forgot Stupid Stew, but he is a walk-up start for the title.
God, I am still laughing about him knocking himself out !!

Out of character here, but I must agree with Asgardian again. Daniel Chick is a good ordinary player at best. Mind you he has a couple of mates in Harford & Lord.

I'd give Jeff Farmer a vote too. I know he had a good year last year, but how many times does he kick a bag one week, then play like an absolute dog the week later then continues in that vein for another 4 weeks. Before you slag me, Ronnie Burns is the same, I know!

OldLion, my apologies for not replying earlier, I was sidetracked by some work that I had to do on the computer.

Anyway, re my selection of Chris Johnson as most over-rated at the Lions, is because he has the ability, but he doesn't always use it.
My point on this line of thinking is that seeing the talent is easy, hence the commentators get wound up in the potential, and build the guy up over the seasons, they have their memories clouded by a few examples of rare talent, and they are then always on about how good he is, and inevitably he becomes over-rated.
This is not the case with Trent Knobel, hasn't had enough opportunities yet.
