i would prefer deledio and murphy over cooney but this is just because i love the way they play. I think murphy will finish his career as the best then deledio then cooney, but all will be champions.

Dal Santo, Hodge taken in the same year of Judd? If including players only in years following Judd, he's arguably the best performing youngster - but that would only be because he is physically developed, and he's only had one very good year. I'd imagine there'd be a more than few who would overtake him in coming years.
Cogs, stay on track mate. By the way Tambling has been a disappointment, think of it, you could've had Franklin. Thats gotta hurt![]()
OK, Dal Santo was taken after Judd (albeit very shortly, but still after) and is better. Cooney, Goddard I'd have around the same level as Mclean. Franklin another, although lacking consistency, will almost definitely be better. Not to mention, players like Murphy, in their first/second years, or players yet to debut, having been picked up this season. Than of course, there's Walker, who will show why he was picked in front of Mclean. So what you're saying is so far, since Judd, he has been the best but you are making a prediction that someone else, might someday, be better?
Sounds about right.

Um I am, language comprehension not one of your strong points is it![]()
Let me explain to you because you are obviously too thick to understand, somebody used the fact that Walker was a bottom age pick as an excuse for his lack of output, so I stated that it is no excuse using Brett Deledio as an example, or maybe Deledio is jusr 10X the player Walker is![]()

wait wait wait
RJ and Cogs - Walker being bottom age was never used as an excuse. It was just pointed out so that posters could have a better understanding of Walker and his progress/development.
RJ has stated that all players are diff (believe it or not), some kick on quite quick, some not as quick.

Walker WILL be a stand out in 07' - you'll see![]()
Mclean has had one average season and one great season. Dal Santo has had three great seasons, Goddard has had one very good season. Cooney has had two very good seasons as well. Mclean has potential, and was excellent this season, but lacked a bit of consistency. Dal Santo, on the other hand has been very good at the least for the last three seasons, and IMO, Cooney has more potential and upside than Mclean.Dal Santo isnt' as good as McLean imo - for a start and Goddard and Cooney are definitely behind him in output, potential and ability.
You can say all tehse people could be better at some stage in the future, and yeah I could see Murphy being better if he tried his guts out and applies himself - but at this point in time, nobody drafted since Judd is as good as McLean.

Tambling?I agree, it's the same as someone like Jay Schulz, just give him the necessary years development before you expect him to dominate.
Dal Santo- average? No idea. Wasn't as good as his previous seasons, due to Hayes' injury, but still a very good season. Dal Santo averaged basically the same disposals as Mclean, yet Dal Santo was average but Mclean was "as consistent a player as anyone"?Dal Santo's 2006 was average mate.
This season McLean was as consistent a player as anyone in the AFL. Where the hell do you get this sh*t anyway, do you even watch football?
Coney can have all the potential in the world, the statement made was that McLean is the best youngster since Judd. It is an accurate statement. If Cooney hits his potential in 2009 he's no longer a youngster anyway, and it's still a big if.

Mclean is so freaking overrated by Melbourne supporters. He had a very good season - but six matches under 20 disposals? You'd think he was the best in the league by an absolute mile, by the way the Melbourne supporters go on about him. He's had one great season and suddenly he's the best in the AFL.
Best performing youngster (or best to date) - possibly. Best youngster - no chance.Of those 6 he was injured in the first quarter in two, and returning from injury in three.
I'm not saying he's the best player in teh comp, I'm just saying he's the best youngster since Judd. And he is.

Big difference between the two, and many will overtake him in coming years. Can't see how you can fairly compare a third year player to second, first and players selected this season.
Definitely one of the best, top 3 - but I wouldn't say he's indisputably the best. I rate Dal Santo higher than him.Yes you can, it's simple - you look at who has done what, and proclaim teh one who's done the most as being the best.
Of course someone else can overtake him, its football and we can't predict the future but as you said, to date, McLean is the best youngster so far since Judd.
