What parts of your game would you like to improve?
My contested marking, goal kicking, tackling, disposal and ruck work
That is why, especially the two in bold.
With 3 selections I'd stay clear of him until the PSD/rookie draft

Well plenty has changed now, so perhaps we need to have another look at our drafting strategy. I've no doubt our recruiters are.
So by my reckoning we have at our disposal:
ND picks 8, 31, 48, 65, 82, 99(Howlett upgrade)
PSD pick 4
RD picks 9, 26, 43, 60(Meli), 77(Webster)
We obviously still need mids, a ruck and a small defender. Probably fair to say we need a tall forward now too.
I'd say Lynch and Gorringe are brought more heavily into the equation at pick 8 now. Perhaps Lynch is too similar to Gumby/Carlisle? Getting a very good mid at 8 is still very appealing, but having a ruck who can go forward such as Gorringe maybe fills our ruck need as well as our tall forward need in 1 pick.
Should be a reasonable mid available at 31, then hope for another mid and a small defender with 48 and 65. I'd be tempted to upgrade Silverlock at 82 and have another crack at the rookie draft. Some of this could change a fair bit depending on who we are looking at/is available in the PSD I guess.
Oh, did not know this... Thought it was just a simple matter of reading their names out on draft day.I'd thought about this as well, but due to the nominations date for rookie upgrades having passed I don't think we can do it.
Why wouldn't we rookie them both?
Both still have something to offer.
Has someone else thought to themselves what is going on? as the AFL.com.au article has stated Essendon will give Jay another go (via the rookie list) if he gets himself into shape first, whilst the permission to train list has Tyson Slattery training with us nowsurely we aren't going to rookie them both?
Now that leaves us with a hell of a lot of players to turn over (8 to date so far).. At last we are getting somewhere.
What about Mitchell at pick 31? should be available and would mean he covers Neagles position.
I still dont mind the idea of picking 2 midfielders with our first 2 picks. Pick a ruck up later and also bring in a key forward later.
Im not for picking up Neagle again even though he is probably worth a rookie spot. I dont think his work ethic will improve in a rookie situation, rather he could even work less.
The club has a huge dilemma on their hands.... obviously we need a genuine mid (like an Atley or a Caddy) but since the delisting of Neagle we will probably draft another key forward (unless Ryder will be moved forward in 2011)... If Ryder moves positions then Gorringe comes into the equation at #8...
makes next Thurs night all the more intriguing!!!

Neagle is exactly that. The only reason you would rookie a player is if they have been beset by injury problems - Otherwise back your decision to delist the players.
So your bold prediction is that Ryder and Hille will do exactly what they did in 2010. Wow, the foresight is astounding!!You wont be able to play a ruck on the bench anymore. So if Ryder goes forward than he will still rotate with Hille into the ruck. Very much like Jolly and L.Brown did for Collingwood. However they will still need rest on the bench every now and again. I would much prefer the idea of playing Hurley 30 out from goals.
Hmm, thought GC had the first 5 rookie picks last year... But how does GWS's 8 picks push us back to 17? 12, I'd have thought, but anyway.I think the inclusions of Webster and Meli may have a bearing on who we may select with our draft picks.
I am thinking that a reasonable forward prospect will not be available at pick 31, so am thinking that Lynch and Gorringe are being SERIOUSLY looked at with pick 8.
Obviously would love to see Atley/Caddy or B.Smith at 8, but with the recent delisting of Jay Neagle, then the two talls will certainly come into consideration now.
Still, we will be able to secure a Josh Green, Mitch Hallahan, Reece Conca, Sam Crocker at pick 31 any ways.
So we now have:
Delistings: Jarrod Atkinson, Bachar Houli, Jason Laycock, Jay Neagle, Tyson Slattery, Michael Still with John Williams and Christian Bock rookies.
This will leave us with National Draft Picks: 8, 31, 48, 65, 82 & 99 (Ben Howlett)
whilst we will still have Rookie Draft Selections: 17, 34, 51, 68 (James Webster - NSW Scholarship Holder) & 85 (David Meli - International Rookie Scholarship Holder)
(NOTE: GWS have the first 8 rookie draft selections, same as what the Gold Coast had as part of their entry concessions so pushes our rookie picks back 8 spots).

Bartel, Shuey, Trengove...??? who else?I'm pretty sure he'd be going to visit about 4 or 5 guys.
