This is the first thread I've been able to start so...yeh :thumbsu:.

The coming 4 games we have:
Melbourne (MCG)
Sydney (ANZ)
West Coast (Etihad)
Port (AAMI)
....
then St Kilda (MCG)

The way I see it, this is the perfect time to not only get a relatively easy 4 wins under our belt but to:

1. Rest Presti/Ried, Macaffer, one of our top midfielders. This will leave us opportunities for Brown (if fit), Goldsack, Barham, Sinclair, Dawes and Anthony to get some game time, adding to our depths ability and confidence.

2. Build mass confidence against St Kilda, who we have battled against recently. Also we get a 6-day break, St Kilda get a 5-day break coming off a flight to Brisbane. This is WIN-WIN.

3. Cement a top 2 spot, it is a long season but if we can win the 5/5 we will have it in our sights.

However, when supporting Collingwood these are mostly the famous last words. So here's to hoping we can do it!

Go PIES!!

The next 4 weeks should be looked at as "another block" where we simply need to perform.

The hardest game in there is now the Sydney game, as we are near certs in the other 3 games.

If we can beat Sydney, we will be 12-3 running into the Aints at the MCG, and as the OP points out, we have a days break advantage.

We simply need to win the next 4, we have only dropped one game this year we should have won (Brisbane, shocking loss).

If we win the next 4, we will finish top 4, that's almost certain, and with 4 Melbourne clubs likely to finish 1-4 again (Freo about to fall away), the order of the top 4 is not important.

how about we just win, and continue to win.

**** this must win, consolidate, blocks of matches, just win every week.

Every time we try to get fancy abd say oh we'll shit this in then we have easy month, we **** up. So let's just win and **** any planning other then that

We've just got to keep winning and winning, but beating St Kilda next time is critical. It will give us the belief we need to carry us all the way to the GF. I don't want us going into the finals without having beaten either Geelong or St Kilda.

Happy first thread.:)

yep, hate to say it but lets respect each weeks opponent and take it a week at a time

I agree with what you guys are saying without a doubt. But I'd be more concerned about any Collingwood players coming on here and taking our advice as gospel and following through with it.

I wouldn't expect any less from the Pies with what Opti and JS are saying but realistically, I agree with the OPs perceptions and I have the same feeling. If we can get these 'easier' opponents out of the way and score 4 wins to get us to 12 and 3 coming up to the Saints, we will have to be taken seriously enough in that game for it to be built up as a blockbuster, and have St Kilda throw their best at us.

I want to see what we can do when we're in that position and St Kilda go in with close to a full-strength side and throw everything at us. It would make that clash all the more exciting, and victory all the more sweeter, because it would probably be the informal changing of the guard on BF, media and the AFL in regards to the #1 side capable of challenging Geelong for the 2010 flag, and potentially, the future.

No such thing and very few sides apart from Geelong are going to win blocks of 5 or 6 games in a row very often.

We will lose games but it depends on how we lose and what we do the following week.

After the Saints game we have Richmond so we cant afford to drop more then 1 game in the next 5 games if we want the Second position. Id rather second then first becuase i think our players could cope with finishing first and the preasure that comes with that ala Port Adelaide in the early 2000s.

Very easy and thats the good part of entering the 2nd half with such a great record, our draw gets better from here, sure we have Geelong and St Kilda again but with our 1st meetings against shit teams like Adelaide, Port, West Coast and Richmond to come along with the return bouts against Essendon, Carlton and Melbourne and a top 2 spot should come quite comfortably

Anything less than a combined margin of 150 points over the next 4 weeks would be a failure

You'll be happy then, because 1st is out of everyones reach, Geelong will do enough to secure first then rest their players the last 2-3 weeks of the regular season.

I can also see both Collingwood and StKilda resting players the last week or so, if they have "sewn up" 2nd and 3rd, as I expect them to.

The Dogs are our only real challenger for 3rd spot, and with the win last week we put 2 games between them and us.

I don't think too many pies fans would be too upset if we went 4-1 over the next 5 games, and were 12-4 with 6 games to go, because that would mean we would only have to go 3-3 in our last 6 to secure 3rd at worst.

IMO there will be no difference between finishing 2nd or 3rd this year, as it is likely to be the Pies, Saints, Cats and Dogs top 4 again.
