well another stop gap captain is not a good idea of course so there is no other option but to give someone the opportunity of a life time and let them run with it. if we wanted to pick someone 'senior' it would be out of the likes of chappy, bobby, jay schulz, jacob surjan. but travis boak will be 24 at the start of next year, absolutely primed to lead the team out especially as the main core that we are building are all younger than him. but for me jackson and brad ebert are both great candidates too and we may see one of them really command the captaincy towards the end of the year. it's definitely a healthy situation to be in. I'd say those two are probably a year or two away from leading an AFL team but for travis that is the kind of role he should be amped for.

I have to be consistent and agree I have been putting his name up from last year. Boak seems to laconic about it all, but really I have NFI. Brad Ebert looks like a real smokey though.

Whether Ebert, Boak or Trengove are ready isn't entirely relevant.

Do they display more leadership, have a closer bond with teammates, lead by example more etc?

If so then Cassisi needs to be moved on. Personally I think he needs to be relieved of his duties regardless.

I don't think we can afford to wait until 2014.

Dom's captaincy is guaranteeing him a start every week
If he wasn't would he be in our best 22 ?

I don't know if this thought process is even logical but with Brad being here for only one season, would have have built up enough relationships with the group to be accepted?

I would assume the captain would be appointed by his peers, so the players should decide who the man is going to be.

Boak is still my choice for captain though.

That's why Brad should get it. He must be respected for his play and fitness and he will not be too chummy to make the hard calls.
