Probably later …
Yep agree. Virtually went at second gear the whole year and turned it up a notch in the grand final. Could easily have been a 20 goal gap between them and the second best team.
Unless they get a massive injury list or it’s 50ml of rain in a final, I can’t see anything changing next season.

It was a little strange for a new coach to say that - IMO. Might be why they got Martin out of retirement as I would have thought his leadership and experience is as good as anyone going around.

Might be a good idea to get to know your group before telling them that (as a coach and new recruits who got their assess handed to them at VFL level) that the club your at has limited leadership or leaders.

But then again ...

Banyule only have 2 senior players over 25 with the amount who have moved on, they have lost a heap of experience and leadership. I would imagine that was what he was referring too as well

Unfortunately when you do media, especially of the print variety you are relying on how the context of the comments are interpreted by the reader or listener. The Banyule coach in an attempt to build some external hype around the new recruits has been interpreted as disrespecting the leadership credentials of those currently at the club. I highly doubt this was intentional.

VFL quality leaders are better than local footy leaders? Hardly a massive statement

Common sense should give you a fair idea that he wasn't crapping on players that he must then coach..

You'd hope so cos the article defintaley didn't read that way. If they can get Martin to reverse surly they can call Aylett and Biscuit this week to knock back there retirements :grimacing:

Why , they were all part of that insipid 2 finals displays, time to move on. And maybe less talking things up which seems to be an Ammo’s thing. Ie Ivanhoe Chump FC

I don't think there's been anyone talking up Banyule have they? The last month this forum has been largely a Banyule exodus discussion and who they're trying to recruit to replace the experience lost.

Can you point on the doll, where the amatuer teams touched you?

Like barrel suggested, pretty sure most of the post season chat has been a mixture of Banyule getting relegated very quickly cause they have 4 players and a canteen lady as their ruck and is North any chance of a ground, with a little bit of Ivanhoe and Heidelbergs 150th anniversary sprinkled in.

And if anyone came out and said differently we would be arrogant flogs - no one wins, no matter what you say..... and it's only big footy and means nothing but banter and fun.
All tongue in cheek from me, I just can't believe someone else called you guys out for "talking yourselves up"

Keep up the good work
