If the stars can maintain most of their list including Carter and Farrant and pick up 3 or 4 there is no reason they cant pinch a finals spot.Nick O'Neill signs with Fitzroy stars after training with them for last few years. Left Nyah Nyah West great get for the stars!
They will make finalsIf the stars can maintain most of their list including Carter and Farrant and pick up 3 or 4 there is no reason they cant pinch a finals spot.
If they do make finals without list improvement then Div 2 is in a poor state. They will make finals

Or they have a good enough list and happened to be in Div 3 last year.If they do make finals without list improvement then Div 2 is in a poor state.
Yes I agree Chumpy one, Seeing bottom 5-6 teams in Div 2 this year, Stars have them covered. They will make finals
They had 8 ex VFL and or AFL players running around at stages…If they do make finals without list improvement then Div 2 is in a poor state.
I rate them but it’s a poor reflection upon the state of the teams in the mix for finals. Macleod, South Morang, Whittlesea, Lower Plenty, St Mary’s, Northcote Park & even Panton Hill would be very disappointing if Stars are going past them.Or they have a good enough list and happened to be in Div 3 last year.
But they will pick up a few you would think now the others have signed on.
You would 'guess' that Macleod, Morang and Whittlesea would make top 5. I'm suggesting Stars could be in with the next bunch for the other spots. But it's just a thought and they would still need to pick up a few no doubt.I rate them but it’s a poor reflection upon the state of the teams in the mix for finals. Huge get, would have had some serious offers I’d imagine.Barden signed at Macleod. Big for the Roos!
Racking up clubs for a 22 year oldEthan Lowe locked in at South Morang. Lions bolster their forward line
Is it not in most clubs constitutions to "advertise" for head coaching roles despite a verbal agreement of continuation?Imagine asking a coach of 9 years to “reapply” if interested.
South Morang have made an almighty mess of this. The departure of Gary Hall should be been carefully planned and treated with the upmost caution.
It could have ended with a huge celebration instead his 2 sons and a massive bunch of players walking.
Yeah I recall South Morang have advertised in previous years through their constitution. Don't know if much has changed that way but I do remember this being a thingIs it not in most clubs constitutions to "advertise" for head coaching roles despite a verbal agreement of continuation?
Heard a couple of whispers this was the case but wasn't communicated as best as it could of been which had led to the stepping down.
Got itThe old constitution thing again.....
It beggers belief that clubs have it in their constitution. It's not a Consumer Affairs requirement (where all constitutions are lodged and managed) it's not part of the model rules for running a club as directed by CAV.
I have looked into this many years ago and looked at Clubs constitutions that where on their website and NONE had a requirement to advertise for a coach annually or gave any structured requirement for when to. And when you look at it, why the hell would it.
It's an old wives' tale but if Clubs do have that silly requirement, I would be voting it out at next AGM....look what it does, nothing.
I know 100% some clubs do have it. West Preston for example. The ad popped up for 30 seconds and was removed after winning the flag. The old constitution thing again.....

To change a constitution you need to have a meeting and vote and I guess some clubs just haven’t bothered.I do believe some have it I just wonder why? Is it a legacy from many many years ago?
As I said from what I looked at a few years ago there is no legal requirement in according to running an incorporated clubs' constitution so why would it be there.
No AFL Club advertises annually. Tipping if Heidelberg had it in their constitution after 4 flags they would not be looking for someone else.
Yes, Clubs should be proactive in looking for the future and seeing what is out there, especially after the same coach for many years but having that requirement indoctrinated in a constitution is weird. If everyone (Committe of Management, Football Department, Sponsors, Players, Results etc etc) are happy why be forced to do something that could disrupt the apple cart.
