No doubt that stats can't accurately measure football impact yet, but when you're claiming someone is "a huge threat" forward due to their aerial game - you'd expect to see more than 4 contested marks in a year.
You'd probably want to see them average more than 0.27 goals per game if you're praising them as a 'forward threat'.
They tell an awful lot more then your judgements. Even straight after a game we probably only remember about 5 percent of the actual game. The next day probably less then 1 percent.
Stats do simplify by grouping differential plays up into various equivalent subsets. I agree this is an imperfection with stats. But stats remember 100 percent of the game. I think this clearly trump our judgements given our shocking memories.

With that one brilliant mark and goal probably being the only goal he's kicked whilst playing ahead of the ball - as he's barely ever played ahead of the ball at AFL level. You'd probably want to see them average more than 0.27 goals per game if you're praising them as a 'forward threat'.
And what is 'the truth' in relation to Nick Daicos?Collingwood fans with Daicos are similar to MAGA with Trump. Got so many rose coloured glasses on they will never ever accept the truth no matter how many times they are told. It is basically pointless arguing with them
And what is 'the truth' in relation to Nick Daicos?
Huh?But you can when it’s premiership odds
Now we get it
Who has said he IS the greatest of all time? That he isn't the greatest of all time, no where close, he is not the greatest of the 21st century and he isn't even the greatest player playing right now.
'Yeah, but that's just bookies taking money off of mug gamblers!'
Who has said he IS the greatest of all time?
Who has said he's the greatest of the 21st Century?
If he's 'not even the greatest player right now', where does he rank according to your truth?
You would think the best player in the comp would have been better than Daicos on season output in at least one of the past three seasons....He’s in the mix but it’s
Bont
Then there’s a group he’s in

Who is the 'grouo' he's on a par with after Bont?
That’s a lot better reading than his stats in the last quarter of the pre-lim final.A nice stat to start 2026....View attachment 2503701
Why aren't any of those guys $5 clear outright Brownlow favourite like Daics? Too many star teammates taking votes off them? How many one on one contests you reckon Daicos would win against Bont?
Bont is the best and even Dangers best is still better.
Heeney Rozee Butters NWM Dawson Holmes Smith Ashcroft McCluggage Anderson Rowell Callaghan
Then blokes like Gawn Andrew’s Jeremy Cameron Toby Green Sam Taylor are in the argument

If it's a stationary contest where the ball comes straight to them - not many. But if it requires moving to the ball - a far more common occurrence - a lot.How many one on one contests you reckon Daicos would win against Bont?

If Nick and Bont played on each other every week for a year, they might have a one out aerial contest against each other. I doubt we'll see it though. In the air?
Say…if it was a Preliminary final and the Bulldogs were down by 2 and a half goals coming into the last quarter for a place in the Grand Final. Why aren't any of those guys $5 clear outright Brownlow favourite like Daics? Too many star teammates taking votes off them?![]()

Heeney rather than Bont is the one you should be talking about, but if they shift ahead of the ball a defender rolls onto them. Who is dumb enough to keep their star attacking 182cm mid one out in the back pocket against Bont Petracca or Heeney? Likewise if Nick went forward with space around him, which he started to do a fair bit this year, as if you'd use Bont, Heeney or Petracca to guard him. Why?
Surely if the Bont was on Daicos he’d drag him forward
