I assume that means its your birthday today Chicago?

Happy birthday to you. I hope you have a great day, your health stays good and you get to see a few more Bulldogs flags over the next few years.
Yes. I posted it in the Covid thread.

Although I've been grumpy for a number of years...

Anyone watch the Front Bar last night? That bit in Mick's multi where they pranked a school meeting ? so the speaker was reading out fake names like in the bar in the Simpsons had me in stitches :D

I try and avoid the covid thread as I get too annoyed.

My kids keep telling me I'm a grumpy old man even though I'm only 54. I do keep saying modern music is terrible and all sounds the same to me though.

One of my former students who I taught 42 years ago just rang me to wish me a happy birthday. He and his wife are both teachers too. His birthday is tomorrow so he calls me(emailed me when I was in the states) so we can exchange birthday greetings. He's 56. He was 14 when I taught him. How time flies.

I bet you feel guilty for rifling through her jacket pockets.
I wouldn't call holding the jacket upside down and shaking it as rifling through the pockets... ;)

I'm checking out for a while.

Take care of yourselves everyone (even those on my ignore list!), keep your loved ones close, or if they are across a physical or metaphorical border, keep them close in your hearts, keep in touch with them, and take care of each other.

Go Dogs :largeredcircle: :mwcirlce: :largebluecircle: :bulldogs:
OK hope to see you back soon mate

I hope every thing is ok with you now. Happy to have a chat outside of BF if you want to.

Take care.

I spent at least two hours on the phone today speaking to people from mygov.com and Centrelink to correct an error so I can apply for the pension online. I have to ring again tomorrow so hopefully someone can answer questions about my migrant/permanent resident visa. One of the women I talked to today didn't have a clue. She even wrote down the wrong email address and didn't complete my middle name on the form. I don't know if I have enough patience to deal with them again.

I also found out when I was in hospital that I have to find someplace else to live by the end of the year. My friend is selling the main house and my bungalow. I'm getting help to find accommodation but it's not easy. This has not been a good year for me.

Centrelink is a battle of patience. IF you want to succeed, you have to keep battling.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Chicago.

I worked in Child Support last year (COVID forced), some there had worked for Centrelink. The whole culture is geared around not being on a call for more than 14 minutes, and they record all calls and you get emails every few days from some unknown nuffie going through a call you did with a form outlining all the things you did wrong. Each month is a report on your calls, duration, how much time you were offline and so on(don’t go to the bathroom too often). It was the most soul destroying, depressing job I have ever had. No wonder their service is awful.

If you can’t find accommodation you can sleep in our front room till you do. We like cats too.

Lets hope Saturday night makes us forget all our troubles.

Some financial planners will assist directly with Centrelink. Added cost but saves you the grief.

I'm getting help through my case manager from the Transition Care Package I have from the RMH. She's been great so far. I have no idea where I'll be going at this stage and am looking at all options.

Glad to hear this Chicago (not your troubles, I mean the case manager). Googled help for you myself. I worked at Centrelink when it was Social Security and we used to have field officers who could visit people at home. There was also social workers and it seems there is still some sort of help in this area, but you're better off leaving your case manager to sort it. Hopefully they are aware and can access these people for you. Anyway, here's the info if you need it at any time:

You certainly don't need the extra stress, so take care of yourself.

Thanks for that. My case manager got me in contact with help to find accommodation and I've been put on a short list(which I'm sure is rather long.) I've asked to remain in the area if possible to be near my GP in Niddrie. My four specialists are in the city with one in Sunshine.

"Thankyou for your service" a phrase derided by many, not me. You are as deserving of it as any of the US military, if not more. You came here and helped educate our youngsters when we couldn't do it all. You mucked in. Good man, Chicago.

Bloody hell Mayo lost the All Ireland GAA by 4 points.

The long wait continues.

They've reached the grand (All Ireland) final in 1989, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2021 and managed to lose them all.

Former Essendon player Conor McKenna's Tyrone won for the first time since 2008. McKenna's been one of the competition stars since he returned, scoring two goals v Kerry in the semis.

I am a lifelong Dogs supporter and member but also am a Melbourne Storm member.
Just found out today that the Melbourne Storm preliminary final is being held on Saturday 25th at 7:50 pm.
Seriously, how can 2 major sporting codes not come to some kind of arrangement with regards TV broadcast timings given that is the only way fans can actually watch it now.
Will be going crazy watching 2 TVs at the one time (and probably drinking twice as much)
