McEvoy was very good last night. Gawn was unable to impart his usual influence which allowed the Hawks to exhert greater influence over the stoppages.

Unfortunately for Hawthorn O'Meara was injured, Mitchell was missing an arm and they had a night to forget in front of goal.

If Lycett and Vardy are able to nullify Gawn, we should win comfortably. Surely they cannot fare any worse than what they did against him in Round 22.
I'm down at a cafe in Subi this morning, Lycett is also here and he just jumped for the opening bounce of next weeks game.

Neale to Brisbane is pretty tight now; hangs on assurance from Fremantle that they can find a second round (preferred) or third round pick in exchange with pick 4.

It had looked like this pick would come from Geelong (current 47) as the Dockers would swap picks 5 & 77 for T.Kelly, 11 & 47.

Now it seems however that Fremantle are confident they can land Hogan from Melbourne by ontrading pick 4. Naturally the Lions are happier with the prospect of the Demon's second rounder (current 32).

Indeed, it would appear that Fremantle may be willing to give up picks 4 and 5 to gain both Hogan and T.Kelly.

So we're giving Neale and a second for pick 4? is that what you're saying?

In hindsight, this was a good loss to have. Would've given the team and coaching staff some great intel on the Dees and allow for the rucks to formulate some different plans. It might also have bred (what I hope is) a false sense of security in Melbourne.

This is what I have been hearing pretty consistently up in these parts for a while now.

Although it could effectively be Neale for Hogan as the second rounder would move from Melbourne to Brisbane.

Agree with this. It is unlikely that the ruck contest will be so overwhelmingly one-sided in the Preliminary Final as it was in Round 22.

The other thing that may be helpful by proxy is that the addition of Schofield should negate Barrass from getting dragged up the ground so much and getting exposed as he did in that match.

Hogan will definitely be going for Freo IMO. Melb realising what I suspected long ago, which is they’re a far better side with TMac as their main target than Hogan.

Weideman stepping up like he has will also give Melbourne confidence that there's life after Hogan. And I don't see how they'd fit all three in the one side
