Think Freo will get it done today. If their forward line can get their **** together they could stretch the Tiges.

And there lies their problem.

Thus far, this season, their much hyped new schmiko forward line has performed about as well as the Boeing Airline Engineering Department.
Both draw a extremely high salary, and have cost a lot of capital to amass , yet both are resting on their laurels based on past achievements

Freo will fall away eventually, the more losses the Tigers bank now, the better.

Freo should be winning this either way, given the Tigers’ outs.
Richmond will get their shit together at some point.

Absolutely agree. The threat the tigers would pose in sept is much greater than freo imo.

Also if by some miracle freo do make top 2 and earn a home final, I'd be happy for us to be the away team ;-)

One thing that’s really been bugging me is tackles not being awarded.. in all games not just our own. One specific example is the chicken wing tackle. Have seen it plenty of times where a player has his arm pinned, has “no prior opportunity ” and it’s called for a ball up. That used to be rewarded.. as one arm is still free and you have an opportunity to dispose of the ball with a kick. It’s harsh but it’s how I always remember it being. Plenty of other examples where a player blatantly drops the ball but because again he was tackled immediately and there’s “no prior opportunity” it’s not deemed illegal.

I think most of the problem is in the interpretation of not making an attempt.. so players try to shovel the ball out to look like they’re making an attempt rather than being confident enough to hold it in. If you’re tackled immediately you should be well within your rights to intentionally hold it in.. and if you’re being tackled and ball comes out without it being a handball or kick you should be pinged. It’ll probably look ugly for the first little while if everything starts being paid but it’s the only way to get players to change their mindset about disposal.

The holding the ball interpretation is the most frustrating thing in the game for me. Even in games that I have no vested interest in, it makes me mad. Real mad.

It really does spoil the whole game for me, and I used to watch most neutral games. I can’t anymore as this one thing pisses me off so much. It seems like such an easy thing to correct, but the AFL and the umpires would rather pretend they get everything right and don’t know what the average spectator is on about.

I used to watch every game, every week as well as a lot of colts football not just in WA but around Australia. Changes in work and life situations have cut down on my time I had to watch the junior games but i've gone from 8/9 AFL games a round to 1 and maybe a second if it happens to be on while im out and about or a big matchup every now and then.

Almost exclusively due to the rule changes and the umpires lack of ability to make the right calls in the spirit of the game. You can pluck out 100 decisions or non decisions every game and argue whether or not a free kick should have been paid, however thats not the problem. It's when they have no understanding of manner in which the game is supposed to flow, play and be umpired and they pull out bullshit frees which to the manner of their weekly interpretation could be argued as being a free kick yet in the last 2 minutes of play they've let blatant free's go unchecked over and over again that ****s me off the most.

drop the ball, throw the ball, drop the ball, throw the ball, dive on the ball, shovel it out, hold the forward, spills to ground and no free kick paid. Defender squeezes a kick out under extreme pressure amongst 12 players and it hits the outside of the boot and rolls out of play 40 metres up the line. Free kick, didn't make a genuine attempt to keep the ball in play / deliberate out of bounds...................

It's like a mouse trying to **** a bear. You know what it's trying to do, it's just never going to happen.

Whats with the booing of ablett? This whole liking a nutters stance on gay and drunks post still going?

It’s one of those things - once it starts it takes on a life of its own. A few Collingwood fans started booing Daisy Thomas yesterday and it gradually picked up steam. Ablett’s latest offence would be getting off the strike, and once it starts it’ll continue for the whole day.

Who cares, they don’t boo nobodies - more booing I say.

Wet Toast really do get kissed on the d**k by the umps. They really have no right to boo the umps when they’re the no. 1 team for free kick differentials (just a guess without looking at stats).
Read that on the Freo board. We are currently 9th with a slightly negative differential. The funny thing is Freo are above us with an even split. Pays to research before posting rubbish.

Being now Round 8. Would have you preferred T.Kelly in the team this year, or still happy to make a play next year?

I think everyone would prefer that Tim Kelly was in our team this year, but that isn’t the full equation.

Would we prefer Tim Kelly in the team at the price Geelong expected to pay, or are we still happy to make a play at the end of the year - I’m still happy we waited.

On average we get a really good run at home and get slaughtered away.

In the same boat.. Used to religiously watch at least 7 games each week but I can honestly say in the last 2 years, I can’t remember a game I sat through from start to finish that wasn’t one of our own. Our game + the last quarter of a tight one, a potential upset brewing like the Pies and Blues game yesterday or having a laugh at Freo, is the full extent of my AFL viewing for the week.

Commentary.. constant rule changes, umpires having no idea how to apply these rule changes and new interpretations of existing rules consistently.. AFL having no time for the majority of supporters (who are the ones keeping them in business and who the game belongs to) and would rather stick their head in the sand and pretend they have it all figured out.. different rulebooks for star players.. Reportable offenses and free kicks with too much wiggle room to be interpreted differently on any given week.. AFL media drumming up nothing stories and creating “narratives” and causing uproar when it suits.. just the overall ****ery of the whole organisation to think they’re doing a fantastic job while making everything up on the go. Rant for the day, so frustrating

I looked at Geelong's draw and they may only lose 1 or 2 more games this year. They double up against hawks, crows, north and Bulldogs- what an easy draw! Would not be surprised to see them choke in finals again.

I think it is unlikely we'll finish top 2. If we can't then hopefully pies finish second, which gives us a chance to earn a home final.
