Wonder if Neale would like to return to WA?

And surely that would be about the right time to check if Duncan wants to return home also, as we repeatedly hear come trade time...

serious question. West Coast has so much money in the bank they could almost buy a casino....50 to 60M ... yet they have a rubbish side. What is the Lux Tax penalty for playing over the cap. As I understand its something like 2M or 75% of the over the cap payment. So why not do it deliberatly. Offer 1M plus each to about 5 to 10 Free agents and turn the ship around. Pay the tax... ..who cares about money.

There must be some rule against it but if they are willing to pay a tax for going over , even if its 10M tax... whats the afl position. Do they lose points? Would the afl really be that upset... it would save having to have a huge financial club being a negative ..

I know we don't get the game here. No saturday or sunday arvo on FTA is pretty poor. Thought SA usually have different rights and get to show the local teams on FTA when they are interstate.
QLD get every Lions and Suns game shown live on channel 7 - so I would have assumed it to be the same in SA with every Crows and Power game shown live on channel 7.
Why are there no FTA games on Sunday afternoon anymore?

I see King has started getting into Hawks so they are fired up for us
doesn't matter where both teams are on the ladder- it'll be competitive (moreso if Danger out )

I don't think it works that way with the salary cap for players, but happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

It's more for the cap with coaches etc isn't it?
Hutchy was talking about this last year on his podcast, he said they should just get the best of the best in every off field position to try fast track improvement and development, also it makes them more appealing down the track to others coming there.. And basically who cares what the tax/fine is.. They make money quicker than they can spend it anyway

If he walks out on West Coast and nominates a club they're not going to knock back 2x first rounders even if they're not expected to be that high.

He will be worth a lot more than that i dont see any world in which a team gets him as cheap as that.

the soft cap is for non player football dept costs. You cant go over the cap for players you only can for the latter. So wce couls employ say an extra 6 coaches and physios for their young players and just pay the tax if they wanted.

This basic comparison really doesn't make for good reading for WCE

In yesterday's match, GWS fielded:
  • the younger team, and
  • more sub 100 game players

That's a WCE team without Gaff, Sheed & Ryan, but still had 5 players over 29 in:
- McGovern, Cripps, Darling, Yeo & Kelly

Is rock bottom still to come, because they don't really seem like a club who has that mid 20s core to help lead them to the other side of this current pain

They are going to waste a generation of talent, their coaching staff doesn't look up for it either.

North are s**t, but you still see SOMETHING from their kids to give you a bit of hope. Reid looks good because he is a big talent and hasn't been at WCE very long.

If Reid stays at WCE very unlikely. He will most likely waste 80% + of his career at the bottom which will be sad to see they are in for a world of hurt that could even be worse than North have seen in the last 5-10 years

The issue is they can't pay Simpson to * off so they can bring in a coach who hasn't mentally checked out. So they are stuck with him til his contract ends.

Jeez those two weeks of COVID really destroyed their future.
