Not 15 called as it was kicked. Why wasn’t the mark paid?
Lobb has been insanely good this quarter. Shame his forward line are about as scary as a miniature poodle.
Geelong vs Bulldogs hey
Condolences to the umpires. I know tonight must've been hard for them.
I'm with you.I like Libba.
Am I a terrible person?
Especially watching the game the umps missed about 8-10 Dog throws as wellDogs fans whinging about umpire favouritism in a non finals game is hilarious - imagine copping it in a GF flogs
The alternative is you're just getting older and have other priorities in life that mean you aren't as big a footy tragic as you used to be. It can be as simple as that. This might not make sense to anyone, just sorta airing my thoughts here. I've found it hard to really get into non-Swans games over the last year or so, and I've realised why - the stakes just don't feel high to me, in any game, between any two teams.
I think the competition is so even these days, and it's led to a genuine unpredictability as to who will win nearly each and every game, which in theory is a good thing. But the unintended consequence of this is that the stakes are lowered for each game. So I don't know who will win most games, but I also simply don't care?
The season is so long and every team's form so tumultuous over the course of that season that so many results can't really be read into much, win or loss.
St Kilda get flogged by Brisbane, then the next week they flog Fremantle, who the week before flogged Adelaide, who the next week flog Carlton, who the next week beat Geelong, who the next week beat the ladder-leaders in Collingwood, who were flogged by GWS, who we beat, but then we were beaten by Essendon, who were flogged by the Bulldogs... on and on it goes. Results that feel shocking and meaningful in the moment turning out to be aberrations and meaningless a week later.
This happens enough and the shocks stop becoming aberrations and they become standard. Once the shocks become standard, are they that shocking anymore? Is there such thing as an "upset" win or loss anymore, when there's so many examples of "anyone can beat anyone" throughout the season? Is there such thing as a "top four clash" anymore, when it's so hard to really know who the top four teams actually are? Is there such thing as a "September preview" anymore, when the ladder is so likely to undergo massive changes between now and September?
So yeah could just be me, maybe I'm imagining things and nostalgia is making these seem like bigger deals in the past than they are in the current era. But I just feel like the home & away season more than ever feels like a meeting that could've been an email to open on September 1.
I read once that a lack of consistency equals a lack of class. This might not make sense to anyone, just sorta airing my thoughts here.
