Love it.

All North's issues are completely out of their control and are due to bad luck/other people's fault.

Literally no NMFC posters are saying this.

We are simply defending ourselves against baseless attacks that we shouldn't be entitled to draft assistance because our lack of success is supposedly completely out own fault. We are simply pointing out there's been some pretty significant challenges in the last 5 years, including (but not limited to);
  • A head coach quitting less than a year into his appointment (a cheap 1st time head coach, cc Kreuuuzeurns)
  • A player getting cancer
  • A global pandemic coinciding with our bottoming out, exacerbating our ability to rebuild
  • Our first ever #1 pick quitting on the club less than 12 months into his career
  • A different head coach being useless and getting fired less than two years into their tenure (a cheap 1st time head coach, cc Kreuuuzeurns)
  • Appoint a safe, successful and established head coach only to have them mired in an unforeseeable scandal literally a month after being hired.
Etc etc etc...

And before you say something like "well all of that is NMFCs fault", or that it happened because we are a basket case, or anything similar... I would remind you that in the last 24 months we have appointed a new CEO, President, GM, Head Coach, Recruiting Dept, Membership Head, Commercial Partnerships Director, Footy Boss, Personnel Manager, and more. We ARE implementing actions to fix ourselves.

We just also want some extra support, and we aren't even asking for as much as clubs like Hawthorn, Carlton, St Kilda, Collingwood, or GCS have gotten despite us having a worse 4 year record than any of those clubs have ever had.

So it's a little bit ridiculous to sit here and see supporters of those clubs try and attack us for "begging" or wanting handouts. GTFO.

black and white please GIF

I just read through a couple of pages of North supporters deflecting blame for the current state of the club anywhere and elsewhere.

Some self-awareness would be great.

Also, most people are fine with some kind of assistance but believing that North are 'entitled' to it is completely wrong.

All North are 'entitled' to is to ask the question, which they have.

It's up to the AFL to determine which assistance measure will actually improve them.

He isn't even the best player to have gotten cancer and been forced out of the game during the last few years.
He was our most important player at the time though, he got 18 brownlow votes the year he got diagnosed (in a 4 win team).
Not trying to deflect where we are though, obviously poor list management and instability off the field caused us to bottom out.

You're wrong about that. Ask some of the players who played against him over the years just how good he is.

He's probably the best contested player of the AFL era.

This is the typical mentality of people who achieve zero success in their lives...
Your last flag is off the back of our club's culture and previous success but you'll enjoy this years spoon and whoever you pick in the draft.

JHF wasn't there when the game needed to be won. (Second year player/really first year). What are you expecting?

I've seen him a lot at Adelaide Oval and he does things often enough where you go that guy will be a player, think Russell Ebert, he has the power to break a stoppage like nothing else.

Anyway, good luck, the AFL will look after you regardless, you shouldn't be sacking the coach for a while now though.
Honestly he has a world of talent but if he pushed himself harder he'd be a much better player.

So nothing that North Melbourne tries works. Perhaps they will need their hands held the whole way.
How do you go from what Chad said to that?

You're clearly just trolling.

We certainly had more success with Clarkson than we had with the cheap option. Two years of stability and we'll go past you lot.

You know it. I know it.

The whole comp knows it.

Which is why they're screaming blue murder about us maybe getting one pick assistance or fair compo for McKay and couldn't give a crap about the GC getting three players in the first round from their academy.

In terms of achievements he isn't close to Roughhead. Not based on AAs, finals performances, or any other legitimate measure (obviously hard to compare a key forward with a midfielder).

If you were that confident in North's list, coaching and administration you wouldn't be here begging for the third year in a row.

Sad to see the shinboner spirit die in the way it has.

What if North just got five wins worth of points at the start of the season before anyone has played a game?

This is actually an argument for North getting some help by the way because if North had that advantage this year they are one spot higher on the ladder. Only WC having the worst season of all time could beat them for the bottom.

So in 2 years North will fly up the ladder?

Remind me why you're asking for assistance again?

Also, only Cunnington getting cancer was out of the club's control. Suggesting the others were things the club couldn't have handled better is burying your head in the sand.
How was the crap being spouted about Sudanese youth in the Melbourne media in the weeks and days before Maj jumped off a bridge in our control?

No but if he'd played in that side he'd be seen in a whole different light.

If this thread is just going to be full of trolls having a crack at North for asking for draft assistance after having 12 wins in 4 years, I don't really see any point participating further.

See you in a few weeks once North's draft assistance is announced and everyone has a sook again.

Nice melt

Yes, you're trying to claim our last flag as being a direct result of North's 'culture'.

Didn't know Sam Mitchell was a North player.
Simpson learned to coach under Pagan and then Clarkson. Who learned to coach at North under Kennedy and Pagan.

The influence of the coach who won those two flags in the 90s is huge. Players he directly coached in seniors won 6 flags of the last 15, ie 40%. Players that Clarkson mentored as assistants add another 4 flags to that (Dimma also played u19s under Pagan) so the coaching lineage that Pagan built is responsible for at least 9 of the last 15 flags, 10 if you count Beveridge but we probably shouldn't. Not including Bomber Thompson who won two flags for Geelong and also spent time coaching under Pagan as he won the 1999 flag.

Sam Michell hey... good player I'll give him that.

I'm not. I think we should tell the AFL to jam its assistance package where the sun don't shine.
