This is the key sentence though:

So he awarded it on what he saw, which is fair enough. The non-penalty in the Barca-Chelsea game this morning should be a bigger discussion point.
what non-penalty?

no one has even mentioned that apart from the commentator.

henry holding onto a defenders leg doesn't mean the home team gets a penalty.

sorry.

the difference between man utd and my club is we were succesful when money wasnt a factor,

What? Liverpool were hardly like Derby County or Nottingham Forest. But Liverpool always had one of the larger transfer budgets in English football. By the late 1980s, Dalglish had started to flex Liverpool's financial muscle in the transfer market starting including the battle against United to sign Glenn Hysen. The transfer fees look like small change compared to today's fees, but back then, they were blockbuster transfer fees.

So Duncan? Whose name did you get on the back of your brand new Man Utd kit?

I got "champions" with the number 18 on the back of it ;).

Liverpool certainly flashed the cash during their successful days in the 1980's. They must have spent around £15-20 million on the likes of Steve Mcmahon, Jan Molby, Steve Nicol, Ian Rush, Paul Walsh, Gary Gillespie, John Wark, Peter Beardsley, Bruce Grobelaar, John Barnes, John Aldridge, Nigel Spackman, Ray Houghton, Craig Johnston and Barry Wennison. Like you said, £15 million sounds like chicken feed these days, but back then it was the equivalent of around £150-200 million in today's terms.

Liverpool also spent heavily in the 1970's as well, with the likes of Keegan, Souness, Hansen, Lawrensen, Rush, Toshack and Dalgleish costing a combined fortune at the time.

haha that is why i study sports management, far far away from anything relating to english.

shocking grammar on my behalf,

If your grasp of English grammar and spelling is that bad, I sure wouldn't want you handling any contracts on my behalf. I would think that dealing with the finer print in a legal contract is an essential skill for a sports manager.

Looks like Fergie will roll the dice a bit tonight with team selections. Lets hope that roll over and die Boro turn up and not the combative one we sometimes run into!

I'm very relieved with that. That was two tricky games out of the way. Harry Redknapp led sides have tripped us up in the past, and the Riverside has been a tricky venue for us in recent seasons.

Just 7 more points needed from 4 games.

7 Points needed from

City - 3 Points here City struggle away from home
Wigan @ JJB - 1 Point Wigan ain't to bad
Arsenal - 1 Point Arsenal looking alright now and Arsharvin running hot
Hull - KCS - 3 Points, they are shit.

Thats the worst case scenario in my books, although a loss to Arsenal ins't off the cards although a win at the JJB is definantly a strong possibility, either way we should take this title from here.

I would prefer to get maximum points in the next two games. We have always beaten Wigan at the JJB. I think 6 points will be enough, though I dont see us losing against Arsenal or Hull either.

All we can do it make you keep winning, until it's mathematically impossible for us to catch you.

It's absolutely devastating to still be a slight chance to win so close to the end of the season, but we're not going to...

Ironically, if United do end up winning the Champions League, the way Liverpool have chased us would have had a lot to do with it.

Up until that game at Old Trafford, United's players had started to cruise. But that loss, and the one against Fulham, forced United's players to start concentrating again (and the international break helped to refocus minds). Since then, I think there have been four games where Liverpool played before us, took top spot on the table, thus forcing United into "must win" games.

Being a pessimist, I'm not counting on the title until it's mathematically impossible for Liverpool to catch us.

You should get the title from here. But just one slip against Wigan or City then it's back on. Arsenal are capable of beating United, home or away. So im hoping against hope that somehow you lose to either City or Wigan and then Arsenal roll you and we win on goal difference :D

Highly unlikely. Still, it's been a great season for us, they say you need that near miss before claiming the title, so perhaps this is our near miss and we roll on next season and finally get number 19.

Fantastic performances over both legs, we deserve to be in the Final and we have started to play much better football now. Under pressure as well and we seem to be thriving on it.

Ronaldo was incredible.

Hard luck for Fletch as well, he deserves a game in Rome. Hopefully Park will at least make the squad this time.

Not to wrap up the EPL title and give ourselves a chance at going back to back for both trophies, a long way off but it would be pretty amazing.

Ridiculous free kick. Obscene that went in.

Champ final...great effort to get there two years running. Now for the premiership

Park booked his ticket with his performance this morning. Very underated

Stupidly didn't wake up to watch this match. Must have turned my alarm off by reflex :(

We're hitting form at the right time of the season too.

Apparantly we've put in a bid for Ribery as contingency of Ronaldo moving to Real. Big loss if that happens.
