Short memory, boys. One Shannon Watt held a record a couple of seasons ago (2006 or maybe 2005) as being the only player in the comp who played every minute of the home and away season.

The difference being that Watt has been playing well enough to keep his spot and should not have been dropped.

With our injuries, I'm not too bothered with the selection of Brown. I'm actually more concerned with the selection of Thompson - do we have a match up for him?

The player bashing is one thing, but if a guy is making his debut for the NMFC and having done everything possible to make it a reality, which wouldn't be easay, the least he deserves is our support.

On a more positive note, I also agree with Jozeph. I can't help but think that maybe, just maybe, the 'Joeys' might be able to pull off something memorable...

The side as a whole has struggled yet it seems the same few scapegoats cop it for the lacklustre performances of some of the so called established stars of the team.

LOL-lipops. Although, to be fair to Darwin, I'm pretty sure that's what the "S" in Hunter S Thompson stands for.

(Sitting proudly astride my high horse) I'm sooooooort of with pharro on this one. By all means, people are free to have their say on selection...cos', like, that's why we're all here. But there's levels. Be-bopping and scatting over an omission isn't exactly too cool.

To be honest, I'm one of those who would prefer Watt over Thompson but, hey, as the (Circle) Jerky Boys will attest, I'm fruity like that. I think dropping Watty was a bit harsh and kind of ill-timed. But no matter how your personal loyalties lie, as pharro says, if they're in on Thursday, and they're out there on the weekend wearing that royal blue and white strip, gotta back 'em.

Even if their name is Leigh Brown. (Deserves another chance. I don't know about anyone else, but the 175-odd previous ones just didn't seem enough to me. Hope he has a blinder.)

And, finally, congrats to Davies. Rewarding form is all good by me.

I'd hazard to guess that the match committee has made this decision based on a belief that the Hunter may be eager to play his old club and that there is a match up there that they like, rather than as a punishment for Watt's game against Brisbane (as he certainly wasn't in the worst 8 players that night.)

I've just had a horrible case of double deja vu:

Round 1, 2001. Essendon are champions. They'd beaten us by 100+ in the finals. We're decimated by injuries. Petrie and Harris in for first games. Watt poleaxed by Lloyd. Result - we're flogged by 80+ points.

Round 16, 2001. We've struggled back to 8-7. Essendon still champions. We're decimated by injuries. No Carey, King and a host of others. We lead by 69 points in the second quarter.... and lose.

Let's hope for the old Third Way. I don't think I could bear either of the above scenarios tomorrow night.
