Ryder is a gun and wins right now but Bower is being underrated I feel. Anyway, the OP asked who will (future tense) be the better player? We're extremely happy with the way Bower has gone so far and if he can have an injury-free run then he could be something really good for Carlton.

Ryder has a higher profile (likes to make the highlight reel) than Bower who spent half of the 08 season injured.
Ryder may turn out better as he has more x-factor but wouldn't trade Bower for him.

I am extermely happy with bower!!
Obioulsly ryder has the bigger name atm, but i have a feeling bower is going to a very good player. AA before he finishes his career!

For those who don't know who Bower is g back and have a look at round 22 last year.
After missing 8 weeks with a collar bone he shut down (as well as anyone this year) Buddy.
Ignorance is no excuse.
Ryder.......a lot of "I hope I'm right" votes about this one. Another "Kev special".
Looks brilliant at times and once he puts on some more muscle should be a better player than Bower as I think he has more athleticism and looks to be able to play more positions than Paul.
The problem with Ryder is he has to turn into what we all think he might be.
Paul is just chugging along and getting there each week.
Ryder should be better than Bower in the future, but right now Bower is in front.
I've voted for the runs on the board.
Polls board should be a sub forum of bay 13.

Yep. I must be one of the very few who don't rate Ryder as a defender at all (funnily enough, my Essendon supporting mates agree). Yes, he has great athleticism and leap and can make the highlight reel as well as anyone but as far as defending is concerned and shutting out the opposition's forwards, I rate Bower in front.
He is very underrated on here because he hasn't the name of some of the other players drafted but he will set that straight this season and in seasons to come after that.

while i rate bower very highly and think he is good enough to become an AA defender one day, i must be honest and say that i think ryder's added height and versatility makes him the better prospect in my eyes. that said, i think it is possible for bower to become a better actual defender than what ryder is.
