Horrible comparison, truly horrible.
Paul Chapman is more comparable to Jordan Lewis I reckon. Would rank him much better than Lewis but isn't in Mitchell's realm who sits just behind the best mids of this millennium.
Wanted to use a Hawthorn example though but you're right Lewis is more of a mid/utility when Chappy is the profile prototypical mid forward. Though in terms of calibre of player I think Chapman is closer to Lewis than Mitchell.Chapman is nothing like Lewis.
Lewis kicked a goal every second game he played in.
Chapman booted 366 goals which was 1.3 per game. He also shifted between forward and center which is something Lewis hardly ever does.
A player like Robbie Gray is more comparable to Paul Chapman as they played very similar games.
As for Mitchell v Chapman, they are dead even when it comes to standing up on the big stage. I would happily take Chapman over Mitchell in a final as he helped us win so many premierships.
He was a monumental loss in the 2005 semi to Sydney ("I see it but I don't believe it"). He was an even bigger loss in the 2013 prelim v Hawthorn as he enjoyed dominating Hawthorn.
But from a consistency point of view, it's Mitchell.

This is actually a fair call. Chapman has been as important as any recent Geelong player and expect him to be held in high regard. But Mitchell is obviously better so let's give this thread a quick death before the trolls arrive.Chapman is nothing like Lewis.

Chappy = Breust in calibre IMO
Both guns who would get a game anywhere & one at least is severely under rated. The other is rightfully acknowledged as a champ.
Mitchell, on the other hand, is in the Ablett class of player. Different style, but I rate Mitchell better than Cousins, Ricciuto, Voss, Pendlebury, Swan, Mundy, Bartel, Hodge, B Harvey, Wanganeen, N Riewoldt
Just a star!
This is true, but with that summary you'd expert the gap between the 2 players to be a little closer, the reality is though that Mitchell is a long way in frout.Could probably summarize the difference between these 2 best by the following:
If you wanted a player to get your club to finals & the Grand Final, you'd pick Sammy.
If you wanted a bloke to win you the premiership on Grand Final day, you'd pick Chappy.
