Quality > Quantity and Richmond knows that better than most. Built a team around Martin, Cotchin, Riewoldt and a few other A graders and then just shoved a whole bunch of serviceable role players in the remaining positions that slipped to 12th place without Martin carrying that side.

Martin is 30, Cotchin 31, Riewoldt is 32. They have some good picks and will get some good quality kids in but they would need to win the lottery to get someone like Martin again.

No guarantees JHF will become anything like Martin, but he at least has the potential, most footballers do not. Even getting the chance to roll the dice is worth a fortune.

I think it was a good idea to be prepared to listen to offers, it highlights just what the rest of the competition think of him and his value compared to the flotsam of picks people normally squabble over, says a lot when clubs are prepared to go all in to get him.

Supporters need to temper their expectations of this young man, he is not going to be 'the great white hope" but a valuable acquisition to our team,cross fingers. Never forget the vindictiveness of some Media and supporters, the same people talking him up will be bagging him if he doesn't play like a 26 year old Gary Ablett next season.

Our backline needs a lot of work.

I think Larkey would make a great second forward, I feel we need full forward as well... assuming CCJ makes it as a ruckman. He seemed pretty handy up forward for Richmond this year.

We at least have good options up forward, backline needs a lot of work.
